AnonD-923722, 27 Jan 2021I am waiting for an DSLR sized sensor and high quality lens... moreWhen it comes to low light performance, the Vivo X60 Pro+ already captures more light per time than a Canon Aps-c DSLR + wide angle kit lens (even without combining frames). It is equivalent to Canon Aps-c + f/3.4 wide angle OIS lens. Canon DSLR kit lenses usually have f/3.5 or f/4 at the wide angle setting. There are several smartphones that are equivalent to f/3.5-f/4. So in low-light conditions (and without bright highlights) without a tripod an Aps-c DSLR + wide angle kit lens doesn't really have a theoretical hardware advantage. Rather worse as the DSLR needs to read out 24 million pixels whereas f/3.5 equivalent phones only need to read out 12 million pixels.

The only reason why there's computational photography is the limit dynamic range from the small sensors from your phone.
Given this also 15+ stops of dynamic range there is no need for image stacking which will inevitably add Ghosting and artefacts.
Sounds like what you're asking is basically to take a photo that's already edited for you. Which would basically amount to using different pre defined LUTs.

Another camera manufacturer that still lives in the past. 50 megapixel sensor without analog binning (I am not talking about Quad Bayer, there are also Bayer sensors with analog binning) and probably no improvements regarding handheld multi frame noise reduction and tone mapping.

I am waiting for an DSLR sized sensor and high quality lens with smartphone computational photography. That would be a dream
