      They could have just come to me. Decades latter and the industry still hasn't come up with every design I envisioned.

      Let's hope this is less like Apple, and more like what people dream Apple is.

      People don't understand that it's easy to make crap, but few people make better in leaps. I remember a guy I corresponded with, did a commerical for his computer, the QL, Quantum Leap. Ironically. quantum is the smallest, but most powerful in the idea of the day. Like wise, the QL seemed the smallest leap, but it was still powerful. The extra capacity and performance made much possible over the Spectrum computer. The styling was very good. The microdrives a functional advancement compared to not having the expensive floppy drives (which is what I was corresponding about, a design to put miniature floppy disks into the microdrive slots). Then came Loki, out of left field, but never to market. It was a little leap in its way, a little bit more, a few thousand transistors here, a few thousand there, a different integrated processor, a few interfaces, and it could have been more a leap business computer. Of course Acorn with the Arm did it better (and Amiga) but dropped the ball as far as a business computer. But, even the Acorn wasn't a big enough leap. I know someone who out leapt them, now a little footnote in history, though most devices you have are covered by a fundamental patent he is on. You leap to far, and people can't see it!

      Was the i series of products actually that revolutionary, outside of some technical advancements to reduce size, it's more like the styling of the QL computer in the cautionary tail above. But, styling will not keep you ahead alone, copying styling less, no practical slightly miniaturization increases and not much more than the competition, even less eventually.

          So puns aside, do they have a business model, a product, a service to sell?

                        For people claiming it's only a stunt, no it's not, just marketing. Carl has a shit ton of high power backers. These people aren't giving him money for no reason, they clearly would be read into their actual plans.

                              Well that's fitting. Pei was the guy whose company ditched the 3.5mm right after they launched a poll and was told by their users that they should not. And right after they mocked other companies for ditching it. So i expect "nothing" from him.
