AnonD-889996, 28 Jan 2021There are a lot of decent Ryzen 4300u laptopswell, can't seem to find any in my country and even if there're couple of ryzen 3000-4000 laptops, they cost a fortune and i can't buy from ebay or amazon either, the exchange rate is too high and the delivery fees are almost half the price of a laptop.

Andreidinutu, 27 Jan 2021Android and even ios tablets are a joke compared to the ful... moreit's true but today the problems is a bit complicated. now the desktop os (mac & windows) begin to transition to match the mobile os (see the BigSur & Windows 10X), because for the newer generation their first computer is actually either Android smartphone or iPhone, and the facts that with today's hardware the mobile devices is actually on par in term of "power" with full blown laptop will makes the newer generation won't need any desktop os for their task because it's "not user friendly".
if this trends happen, eventually the developer would jump ship to develop pro software that runs on mobile platform, and makes the "desktop os" will be irrelevant for most people.

Guy was dead set to move us to the future but his untimely death basically let us be frozen to 2010 basically. We had laptops (desktops on the decline), phones and tabs as a niche back then.
Guess what we have now (laptops, phones and tabs as a niche).
Eventually what Jobs promised to bring in the 2010s will happen 20 years late because the tablet *is* the best form factor. Merely it will happen the other way around. I.e. phones will become foldables -> tablets and eventually they would be able to do everything (now that ARM computing is a thing, i.e. after the M1 and the whole Mac and eventually windows/linux migration to ARM is complete).
Of course it will take another decade. So yeah, by 2030s it will be tablets everywhere. We will call them phones, but yeah, the they will be Tablets alright. 20 years later we *will* get Jobs' vision, and that would only be so because he was not around to ruthlessly push for tablet adoption early.
But yeah, a tablet (than can also do compute) is way better than a laptop. Merely it is a niche still, hard to find and even harder to setup. I am happy that I am one of the few that knows, always great to get 10 times the productivity of others just because the rest have not caught up... in other news go back to your laptops, your corporate masters ask you to.

But I'm a bit sad that especially laptop with Ryzen variant are not coming as much as 2019. At least in my country. Well, Ryzen 4000 is a big improvement over any pre-exist ones.

prebuilt desktops are declining because they are getting damaged in shipping (also hard to find the config that you want) and building pc's is becoming more popular. all they need is to sort out the stock problem.
and i wish more laptop manufacturers would make more of 400-800$ laptops, majority of the world need decent ones not the best.
