Motorola also demonstrates its own long-distance wireless charging

29 January 2021
Up to seven phones can be charged from a one-meter distance if nothing is blocking the charger.

I'm more curious how reliable this type of charging will be. If the battery will last the same as if it was charged with the physical charger.

You have to think of this outside of the cell phone arena. Technology has to start somewhere, phones are a good way to start small, make money and expand.
-Wireless car charging where you park over a pad that's a foot away but has to go through protective barriers. (Think they're working on this but probably easiest to use this standard if it works)
-Mounting a TV or lit sign on a wall above an outlet and just having to plug in a wireless charging block that sends power straight up, no cord running up the wall, no adding outlets.
-mounting lights or security cameras where they can't be direct wired easily
The convenience would be incredible for certain situations and with directional transmitters any health issues could be greatly limited.

Very disappointing Motorola mobile .still don't have good blagship mobiles .

hahaha, 29 Jan 20211 meter , what is the point ?? it is the same for wireless ... moreConvenience. I have a charging stand in my desk and one on my bedside and with some automation (for example AoD activating only in charge), you case charge your phone + use it as a clock info. Also, this double with the fact that you know where your phone is since it's always placed at the same spot. :)

Regarding this tech (And probablement Xiaomi's too), I'm not very eager to test it because I don't really like the way waves can be sent 360 (Or perhaps only in frontal mode for Motorola), what effect will it have on the body in long term use ? For Qi, we know that after 5-10 cm, nothing is sent trough but still ... 1 meter is very large.

Especially with reversible USB plugs. Just make longer cords that self retract for those that are addicted to there phones. For durability, create a smartphone with 2 USB ports.

What really matters is implementation, have we build upon those shortcomings since then?

Look at OLED at it's core it's still a emissive organic based display but guess what

We have E4 for better luminance, pentile pixels arrangement for better energy efficiency etc etc

These are the questions you should be asking:

So what materials are we using in the "coil" today?
with the development of computing power how has software/Ai impacted it's efficiency?
