Good day guys

I would like to know why I can't move my entire chat history and media from Whatsapp to Telegram?
Is there something I'm missing?

It only transfers a limited amount of my chat history... I'd say maybe 10 days at most as where I'd like to fully migrate to Telegram.

Any great Quality answers would be appreciated.

Tell us the difference between encrypted files and encrypted connections? Do you even know what that is? Most probably not, first start of by learning different encryption methods, encrypted storage, encrypted calls or plain network traffic, client server connection encryption, then learn about end to end encryption, than come here and contradict people. Might show a bit of knowledge instead of ignorance. Peace out.

The Voice of Reason, 30 Jan 2021Oh my god. I'm a fucking IT pro with +25 years of expe... moreOh, yeah it shows the level of IT you're in. My 2 Years old knows better about encryption then you seem to graps. If you are an IT pro i am Bill Gates. If whatsapp has end to end encryption, the Pope is a woman. To brag you know something is a thing. To show you actually know is something else. If you would understand the whole different encyption methods, you would know end to end encryption does not offer any server backup possibility, cause it is not how it is designed, f.m. That is why whatsapp is a crapp, and backdoors are just another normal weak-link in their "Encryptions". You talk about that Guy? I see no connection to It (it with intention), just because they are russians it means he controlls them? Another retarded claim. Anyway, they actually live in emirates, so what? Let me guess, if they were Germans, would have been safe, right?
I know what Telegram does, as i have said, they are quite transparent when they talk about your data. They alsp advice people to use secret chats if they want to be at the 110% security. Going back to normal chats, Encrypted data on servers is a thing since aam... most probably since the internet. It is not like they discovered something new, but why would you trouble doing some research when.you already know so much.... nothing, right?
I got to admit, such behaviour is a normal thing for this IT'ists (irony intended). At this point i kind of do not care of your opinion, but keep it for yourself and stop spreading missinformation.

If you are a Windows Phone user like I do, you can find a number of third-party Telegram client but not for WhatsApp. Same story in Linux.

Car0l, 30 Jan 2021And your information of networking and tech comes from? Bo... moreOh my god. I'm a fucking IT pro with +25 years of experience. I've set up https/ftps/Jabber/IRC/SSH/SMTP/POP3/etc. encrypted servers including where the client's certificate is required and I know full well how and where encryption is used.

End-to-end encryption in Telegram is ONLY used for secret chats which are NOT synchronized between devices. Barely anyone uses these chats. Group chats in Telegram cannot even use e2e encryption.

WhatsApp DOES use end-to-end encryption by DEFAULT and unless it comes with backdoors (this hasn't been proven yet) only the two parties who are communicating can read messages.

Telegram on the other hand saves your entire history in plain text on Durov's servers.

Also, let me tell you a secret. Me and Durov are from the same country and I know people who know about his whereabouts which means that all his posturing about the safety of your data is crap because xkcd. com/538/ Putin has very long hands and this has been proven many times considering how many of his political opponents have been assassinated for the past 20 years.

Now please kindly f-k off because it's you who's absolutely full of crap and I'm sure as hell the 9th grade is where you dropped out and you've never touched computer sciences.

Mercurio, 30 Jan 2021Ummmm think this: I you send an image to some one that have... moreEXACTLY! This is indeed a good analogy. Even if you believed to have deleted everything from WhatsApp, Facebook can still keep a copy of whatever file you have deleted. Telegram don't do that.

The Voice of Reason, 29 Jan 2021If you people are migrating to Telegram because of privacy ... moreNow this is some outright b*llsh*t I have ever read! Everything you say about Telegram is WhatsApp's practice. Since Telegram is open source, everyone can still see the code. Try that with WhatsApp!

One more thing: If you really believe that Telegram is not that secure, why pretty much all Linux distros have Telegram in the software centre catalogue? We all know that Linux is a totally free and open source OS.

The Voice of Reason, 29 Jan 2021If you people are migrating to Telegram because of privacy ... moreAnd your information of networking and tech comes from? Body builder next door? Whatsapp does not use real end to end encryption, if it would, now you would not be able to download your history on a new device, now wouldn't you? You do not know, because you have little to no understanding of what encryption means. Now, telegram uses end-to-end encryption something that makes the chat not that great anymore as a lot of features won't be available, but that is a true end to end. It is optional only, because not everybody needs army grade security levels. And again, plain text on their servers? Another fabricated propaganda against telegram to make the ignorant mass to not switch. Telegram is pretty transparent of what's actually happening with your data and the app it-self reflects what they claim pretty good. The Standard option in Telegram is actually client-Server encyption, account data being encypted before stored. The keys that are used for encrypt/decrypt lay on other servers in perticular countires like Swiss for more privacy and locked away from the software side Servers and their admins/developers. So even if the admins of the servers want to run arround your data, they can't as they have no access to the encryption keys. If you do not trust them to keep your data safe on their servers, well you can use true end-to-end encrypt and your data will never be saved anywhere besides your phone. But forget about backup, delete for other person or edit what you wrote, etc. Only that here is Gold as one has full controll over hi's/her's infromation and can choose how to use the app. In the meantime, whatsapp does not use end to end encryption, lie to people about it and give them no choice nor ability to protect their data. So yeah, people should walk out of whatsapp as soon as posible, they actually should have never used it. Going to Signal, yes it is also end to end encryption as long as the other person has signal installed too. When the other person does not have signal, well the software will send everything in plain text as SMS, so no encryption there. Still 1000 times better then whatsapp.
