So unencrypted history from any source will store on putin-tied Pavel Durov's telegram. (Yes, its well known but usually ignored fact from Pavel biography due to good PR) As well as unencrypted chats from telegram itself. And unencrypted voice calls. Nice.

That poster that tried to mislead folks on the VK historical fact should change its handle to voice of lies or ignorance.

A simple google on the VK creator will show he was forced out because he didn't want to sell-out his users privacy. He literally left Russia as a self-exile, eventually creating Telegram from his own wealth.

                          Bye bye whatsup LOL
Over last weeks I am witnessing many many people switch to telegram...way to go for privacy evading gigants like fb, whatsup, google...

Since telegram is open source*, even though run by for profit, may be this feature gets ported to signal,
                            * even though source code is 'open' to read but legally be "copyrighted".

The Voice of Reason, 29 Jan 2021If you people are migrating to Telegram because of privacy ... moreSo you have no proof

                                Update it is, thank you

If you people are migrating to Telegram because of privacy concerns, stop!

As much as people are scared of new WhatsApp privacy policies, at least the app stores your conversation history only on your device (and in the Google Cloud in case you've enabled backups).

Telegram on the other hand stores everything on its own servers in plain text. Everything. No one can even vouch that when you hit Delete (including for your conversation partner) that the history gets really erased. Telegram was created by the same person who created the VK social network (now owned by the Russian government through proxies) and VK stores all your correspondence and data *forever*. It doesn't require a stretch of imagination to realize that Mr. Durov made the same design choices for "privacy"-oriented Telegram.

There are just three messaging apps which I more or less trust: Wire, Signal and Element/Matrix (the last one is the most secure and the least usable considering its distributed architecture).

So for the next mass migration from WA to Telegram to happen.

Telegram needs to add text status and video status.

Some kind of Payments integration like WhatsApp pay.

Secret Chat encryption into regular chats.

This feature is not working when there is a lot of message :/

I tried on one, telegram tool back messages until 2018 (instead of 2016)

They need to add end to end encryption on standard chats too. Not just secret chats. FB Messenger, WhatsApp Signal and Viber all have this as standard
