04 February 2021
The Nokia 2.2, 5.3 and 8.1 should be fast-tracked to Android 11.

As much as I look forward to a new flagship and upper-mid range devices from them, I'm being thoroughly disappointed.
Ever since HMD started making 'Nokia' phones, I only liked a few phones, namely-Nokia 6 (tank), 7, 8, 7 Plus, 6.1 (beautiful Tank), 5.1 Plus, 6.1 Plus, 7.1, 8.1, 7.2 (only for that beautiful matte cyan green colour, nothing else), 8 Sirocco and 9 PV.
They are just busy dumping money & promoting their phones in the Bond flick.

wongwatt, 04 Feb 2021Except they're close to 5 months late with their FIRST... moreSo you are not happy that HMD where very serious from the start about the OS upgrades and security updates and still continuing this trend. But you want to specifically point out that this time they are 5 months late.

Nowadays companies are realising this fact that OS software updates and security updates are also very important, not just to rush the market with phones.

Salute to HMD, the only company who were very serious on this from the starting and still continuing

Nokia's Android one program is slower than some company's custom ROMs.. nothing is better at Nokia. They brags about stock Android is faster, it is faster to get updates, etc etc bla bla. But stock Android nokia phones are slower than non vanilla Android phones in revert aspect.
Using Nokia 8.1 from 18 months.. it kills apps too much of apps in the background and reloads them. Poor memory management.

Except they're close to 5 months late with their FIRST Android 11 update - while using Android ONE which is supposed to be fast.
This is nothing to be pleased about.

Almost all Nokia phones had below par specifications which are sold at high price. Timely Software updates is the only thing for which users still buy Nokia phones. If they fail to do so, nobody will buy their phones in future. They are already behind the schedule. They had not updated a single phone in Q4 2020. Recently they had updated Nokia 8.3 with Android 11. Still they have to update almost 8 (and newly launched Nokia 5.4) phones with Android 11.They have to update all those handsets (in Q1 and Q2 2021) before release of new Android OS. They had launched couple of new phones with Android 10 this year.
