greenarcher02, 09 Feb 2021That still falls short on the Pro Con's 40 hour batter... morewhile the problem of drifting is not extensive as joy con, some switch pro controllers still drift, i own both, while the d pad is ok, no where as good as dual shock 4 as well, let alone ps5 dual sense

These things probably aren't the worst, but they're recent, and for me quite important, because they're super obnoxious!
The unnecessary PS5 software alterations:
The convoluted "game base" is atrocious, and the party system in general, is a mess.
Parties are mixed with messages, and no one can create a party without first adding everyone they want, to a correlating group.
This prevents other friends from joining without being added, and as far as I'm concerned, that greatly decreases the enjoyment, and actually promotes disconnecting rather than connecting.
In addition, when creating a group/party, it's instantly added to our personal message list, rather than a separate area.
This not only causes confusion, but more chaos when attempting to find a specific message or person etc.
You can't just check to see who's in a party either, you have to be part of one to see it.
Alteratively, you cannot create one without adding people to a group, which usually annoys everyone.
It certainly annoys me.
No one wants to be part of fifty groups.
..and honestly, I just miss being able to create a party that anyone can join, anytime..or just jumping online, and looking to see who's in one.
I don't know why they had to change the way it was. It was fine.
If people only wanted certain friends in their party, they could have easily just swapped it to private, at any time.
So why change it?
As the old adage goes, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!".
This couldn't be more relevant here.
It's an unneeded change.
It's awful, and I loathe it more than I can ever effectively articulate.
LOATHE.
I mean, how could this have been seen as a good idea, let alone EVER come to fruition?
I have to wonder how this could have even made it into the board room at all?
It blows my mind..
It's such a bad idea.
Wow!
Anyway, I digress.
Friends are difficult to easily search through now, and you cannot create custom friend lists anymore, which is super important to me personally.
I can't stand having to search through hundreds of friends to find a few, and don't want to manually search for anyone if at all possible.
Also, the card system for trophies in particular, is simply not for me, and I doubt it ever will be.
I get that it's a new look, which they needed, and that some people might actually like it (though I can't see why), but for me, there's something so uncomfortable about scrolling horizontally through trophies.
It's inconvenient having to click on each one to see even the most basic stats too.
I LIKE being able to scroll and see basic info WITHOUT pressing X.
Sony choosing to include a list/details option should have been a given, and should have been easy enough to implement.
It definitely shouldn't have been overlooked though; that's for sure.
Anyhow..
Am I the only one that's noticed how unsimplified things are in general?
Many things in the PS5 software, seem to have two or three more button presses to reach.
I can't be the only one who has noticed, and is annoyed by this.
Some things are buried under many layers, with no viable way to utilize with ease, that I can see, without Sony significantly redesigning the architecture of the console operating system.
Which is disheartening to say the least, because that just makes it more likely they'll ignore some or all of these issues all together.
Games cannot have folders either, which is a change that I find absurd.
Themes are also a thing of the past, and there's no option to alter PS button functionality (such as swap short/long press options).
For me that's a big deal, as I really dislike holding PS to go to the home area.
I also miss being able to double tap the PS button to quickly return to a previous app, like Netflix, or Amazon Video.
In my opinion, the PS button itself is all wrong.
Not just the software.
The hardware is a problem for me too.
It's harder to press now, and why?
Just to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
The button is flat and smaller and thus more difficult to tap quickly.
It's also in the wrong physical location.
To me the toggle sticks are in the way, and I inevitably find myself reaching awkwardly over the toggles, to get at the PS button.
Which is kind-of annoying actually, because it's a button we press frequently.
They chose to move the PS button up slightly, to make room for the new mute button, but it's now in a bad place for people like myself, that have slightly larger hands.
To me, it would have been FAR better to put the mute button above the dual sense PS button, not below.
That decision honestly confuses me daily, and therefore, I'm convinced the development team has really small hands. 🤷♂️
Honestly, nothing is simplified anymore in the PS5, and that for me, is more than just disappointing.
It's frustrating.
I DO like the system over-all though, despite my gripes, so don't get me wrong.
..but some of the changes aren't just inconvenient.
They're utterly unbearable.
So, I REALLY hope they decide to address these problems sooner than later, assuming they'll address them at all.
..and that's the worst part; waiting and not knowing if we're stuck with these substandard features.
Sometimes I wish I had the ear of these companies, because I truthfully believe they haven't just overlooked all of this.
I think the people in charge, just need to be convinced that their ignorance and perhaps arrogance, is making them miss out on basic functions that ironically, shouldn't need an explanation to acknowledge.

greenarcher02, 09 Feb 2021Depends on your definition of "regular". As someo... moreFriendly advice, unless you making money out of it, stop gaming so hard and go out into the real world. Even just going outside without meeting anyone, is still better than viewing a piece of glass with things moving on it.
No wonder you kids develop suic*de thoughts and have mental problems in your 30's.

Trust me, I "read" a lot of reviews than "watch" them. Kudos to the author for this amazing unbiased review. I was supposed to step out but was just hooked despite having seen and read multiple PS5 reviews. Love from Delhi, India. Cheers!

AnonD-973296, 08 Feb 2021what are u talking about, sony ps4 controller lasts me for ... moreDepends on your definition of "regular". As someone who can game for up to over 10 hours on some days, having to require to plug them in the middle of that is not ideal. Especially in a game like Monster Hunter. I rarely have to worry about that with the Pro Controller since they last over a day even with continuous use. Only downside is they charge a bit longer.

Dometalican, 08 Feb 2021To be fair, as a Nintendo fan, Sony's controllers have... moreI haven't had any latency issues with the Pro Con tbh, just the Joy-Cons. My main issue with the Pro Controllers are the D-pad and the fact that they don't have analog triggers. I do admire its battery life though.

Cant wait for Sony's new exclusive IP games and continuation of their previous series eg. Days Gone, God of War, Uncharted, Spiderman, Silent Hills, Jak & Daxter, etc. Exlusive Game Studios pumping out AA/AAA games for the console with 0 day patch needed to play.

I feel that the power of the playstation and it's policy of nurturing truely defining games which is one of the reasons why Playstation 4 has been so sucessful, from triple aaa blockbusters and critically acclaimed games, even with their (console) exclusives such as ghost of tsushima, death stranding, final fantasy 7 remake, last guardian, street fighter v, horizon zero dawn, gravity rush 2, tearaway, dreams, persona 5, god of war, rachet and clark, astro bots rescue mission, gran turismo sports, bloodborne, Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, days gone, power is knowledge, singstar, frantics, shadow of collossus, uncharted 4, uncharted lost legecy and last of us part 2, these games truely define an generation and hence why we can presume playstation 5 can do the same, after all, no main sony playstation console has sold less than 85 million

According to Jim Ryan, 667GB internal storage should be fine. If he's wrong, sack him.

Anonym, 08 Feb 2021"Lackluster performance"... I guess you can do be... moreYou realize that game consoles are budget gaming rigs right. Yes pc is better, but not at that price point. And you get the guarantee that the consoles can play the games released for it (excluding cd project red fiasco). As a pc gamer you have to be aware of your pc's capabilities and weather or not it can play the game before you buy it.

Anonym, 08 Feb 2021"Lackluster performance"... I guess you can do be... moreWhy are you crying me a river now? They had promised a racing game with PS plus for PS4 for over a year and they never delivered. I can get more done with a PC, use mouse and keyboard and don't have to pay for online. So, a PC doesn't have to do better for the price because it already does it regardless. A 1060 ist like an RX 580, which costs $80 new (pre pandemic). You can get a PC for 399 and it would suck just as much. I frankly don't care what you prefer or see as logical. It still is a bad deal and as long as they don't fix the design flaw, it won't work for the support frame you mentioned.
Since I'm stuck with a 1060 at 1440p, I thought people should know that it isn't worth it. If you are not picky about graphics, get a PS4 instead lol.
