K, 09 Feb 2021Except some nerds nobody cares about rooting. So you're saying you wouldn't renovate your home, buy or try to improve it and that's OK, but when it's your phone you're a need, hypocrisy is showing, so you are also saying if I modify my car that I want more power torque I'm a nerd, better to be a nerd smart than being dumb not knowing or relying on others because I'm to lazy to learn lol.

Those two markets are bigger than the rest of the world in terms of phones sold.
Even in Europe, Chinese phones are improving in marketshare.

I'll be more than happy to switch to miui or color OS.
Looks like you've used miui long back, that too on some cheap 80$ Xiaomi phone.

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 09 Feb 2021You again talking about Miui ads???
It's clear many ... moreYou get bunch of stuff which you don't want nor have particular use of (blotware) which lot of Api's are not implemented as they should be but its heavy skined and that's MIUI and not all adds can be disabled (on all units for instance MIUI forums related ones, also scanner had issues with adds). You get little and even so part of it is still blotware increasingly as some apps are discontinued, all Api's are implemented as its a school book but yet you get surprised how much really useful stuff is there which aren't neither Android program part or something anyone else did at last not in simple but good manner (DLNA server, battery care, music App...), skin is lite yet theme's suport is there and much better and generally everything works surprisingly good. There are no adds whatsoever, as a matter of fact probably only smartphones left where you can actually use the phone (basic functionality) with 100% privacy with disabled tracking in ultra stamina mode - Sony. In general you get surprised with both with Xiaomi negative how something is broken (nothing crucial but it turns out you need it) and not working and how they introduced more bugs with every update while not fixing anything and if you aren't careful enough (reading about how it actually went for others) you can even end up with a brick. On Sony positively with much less updates which actually work and so dose what ever you trow at it (proper Api implementation and all libs present) but you don't become Google's lab rat for it.
In short those are user experience differences highlighted.

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2021Even thats it has adds built in is laughable. Use a OnePlus... moreOneplus is slowly becoming another Samsung, but with the update policy as bad as Oppo. A few years ago, Oneplus users can laugh about how slow Samsung phones are getting updates. But in 2021, Samsung users can laugh back about how slow (Oneplus 7 still on Android 10, S10 already got it) and how little (Oneplus N10/N100 getting only 1 Android update).
Another thing that Oneplus will surely copy Samsung is built-in ads. Samsung been doing it since 2019, so it is only a matter of time for Oneplus to follow. Enjoy your Oneplus while you still can because Oneplus is already straying far from the heyday of 'flagship killer' and 'stock-like OS'.

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2021Look at it this way Samsung is the king of android, other b... moreYou seem to forgot if not for the google ban, Huawei is going to topple Samsung. Lucky for Samsung, US and South Korea are trading partners. US and SK have not only stifled Chinese brands but also Japanese brands like Toshiba to avoid competition.
Another info for you: China is not the major contributor to Xiaomi's total sales. In China, Huawei and Oppo are selling more than Xiaomi. So, the majority of Xiaomi's sales came from global markets. Now you still wondering why the US tried to ban Xiaomi?

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 09 Feb 2021Xiaomi phones last as long as Sony. The only thing that is ... moreLook at it this way Samsung is the king of android, other brands like LG, Sony, HTC fall by the wayside because they can't compete with Samsung's vertical integration and massive supply chains. The only other companies that can stand up to Samsung in the android world are Chinese brands utalizing the Chinese Market, without it, they'd be as doomed as the othe brands.

It's clear many people on this forum simply haven't used any Mi phones personally. For the 1000th time.... ADS on MIUI can be disabled.
Sony is barebone stock Android with nothing much to offer in terms of OS features.
MIUI is the most feature rich Android skin on the planet.
