Just sharing, 09 Feb 2021Depends on your luck. My Sony XZ's front panel came of... moreA little correction. My first flagship phone was the Sony Ericsson S700 (the swivel phone), not S600. I mistakenly remembered the name since I also owned a Sony camera Cybershot S600 in the past.

From which only Denon is worth something (AMPs/AVR's) they also own AKG but it's not quite the same thing. While Samsung did a rather great job with speakers regarding their higher end tablets when it comes to phones its very, very bad.

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 09 Feb 2021Xiaomi phones last as long as Sony. The only thing that is ... moreXiaomi has just good enough build quality, still better than Samsung but don't even try to compare that to proper Sony flagships which are by far the best, second place belongs to Huawei and when it comes to budget models than the Huawei is actually on the first place.

AnonD-804996, 09 Feb 2021It absolutely does. It heats up battery more during chargin... moreOnly Sony (to my knowledge) had/has the charging optimisations as described. On the bright side NaG chargers have very high converting efficiency over 90% which better whose reserved only for Server PSU's so everyone should get one.

No card slot. 256B max version. No headphone jack. Bye-Bye Xiaomi, nice knowing ya!

Onve again Europe doesn't deserve the same prices as in China. Still, HUGELY better value than the S21-S21+

Norwegian Gangster , 09 Feb 2021Fast charging doesn't destroy battery. You must be one... moreIt absolutely does. It heats up battery more during charging regardless of what anyone advertises because you're cramming more electrons into the battery and given how most people charge phones (which is over night) it just means the phone will sit at 100% even longer every single night because it'll get charged in half an hour and then it'll sit the rest of the night at 100%. I'm not aware of anyone else doing charge limiting like Apple. I've only seen them do charge limiting to user selected % on ASUS phones and maybe some other. But that means it'll be at 80% in the morning. I'd actually love it if ALL phone manufacturers offered that, but it's not what casual users would prefer. Where charging to 80% in the evening and then remaining 20% top-up right before you wake up is preferred by casual users. Right now I use notification app which lets me know phone charged to 80% so it lets me know when to unplug it, but I'd love it to be a user adjustable hard limit so the phone actually stops charging there. I'm getting 1-2 days of use of iPhone XR with 80% charge which is still super plenty and keeping battery healthy with 80% charging. I've had it for 2 years with such charging regime and I frankly can't seem to notice any difference in battery capacity. There probably is if I'd try to charge it to 100%, but very minor loss in total capacity. But I guess phone manufacturers don't want us to keep phones for too long anyways...

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2021Doesn't matter which has better cooling, which one is ... moreYeah. It doesnt matter obviously. Im telling you to check which phone has better cooling because you seem to think its some "hardware problem" on mi 11, while its not.

Sony is pretty much done in the 📱 world with less than 1% marketshare.

One simply doesn't topple big brands like Sony, LG, Samsung from the market without producing quality devices.

From Touchwiz till OneUI, Samsung have problem with excessive standby drain. My Mi 9 losing about 2% in 8 hours with mobile data on. While my previous phone Samsung A50 can lose up to 8% in 8 hours. MIUI is not perfect, neither is OneUI.

Pricing it over the S21 was a big mistake given that the S21 is more featured than this phone that even lacked a telepoto.

My Sony XZ's front panel came off after a few months in use while I never drop it. Sent it to service center and the technician blamed me for drop damage. I denied dropping the phone but he still refused to claim warranty for the phone. In the end, I have to pay for the parts (panel adhesive) and the center provide free labour.
Before that, I was a loyal Sony and Nokia user. My first phone was the SE S600 and I owned numerous Sony phones until the XZ. But that XZ incident made me realise Japanese phone durability is overrated. I began to experiment with Samsung and finally Xiaomi. My current phone is Mi 9 that I have used for 1.5 years and still working fine.

I doubt if the Xiaomi will have better battery life than both S21 and S21+ because of the 1440p display. That would be comparable against the S21 Ultra since that phone also has a 1440p display.

Ekott, 08 Feb 2021No guarantee for ip68 and not everyone has a Samsung laptop... moreSamsung's IP68 has been effective so far. Someone did a water test of the S21 Ultra and it seems to do the job well ( https://youtu.be/JxWVDVmSPBU ). You don't need to use Samsung laptop and TV, you can even use it on a cheap third-brand TV no problem at all. The screen is more comparable against the S21 Ultra. Compared to S21 and S21+, they are a downgrade over their previous year's S20 and S20+.
