Tablet shipments grew in 2020, Apple still dominant

Samsung climbing up fast in tablet segment.
They are reviving their tablet lineup and taking marketshare that other Android companies don't have.

    iPad is a beast. It keeps going. Unlike android tablets.. if you left it alone for a week, its dead when you pick it up. But iPads keep going.

    Its legendary battery with a good display, instant on is what drives it. You pay a higher price, yes.. but its worth it.

    Now, with the rise of the custom chip Macs in 4Q2020, its getting some serious competition.. Because those features of iPads are coming to Macs.. Instant on.. legendary battery.. good display. Some switched to Macs, since they do not need touch screen.

      Apple released the same tablet twice (ipad pro in 2018 and then in 2020). They are peaking. Their reign of error is closing its end , finally there are signs from the alternatives that they understand the point of tabs.

      Tab S7+ already is excellent and a great apple rival. Then you have chromebooks which are getting some serious tablet support (keyboard gets tacked, pen support as a standard, tablet apps) and finally microsoft is making a foray in ARM processing, for real this time. First with building their own soc for the surface series, secondly by finally letting poting from x86 to ARM happen more easily (and therefore smaller devices, which hopefully would be usable as tabs as well).

      Weird that we had to wait a full decade after Jobs'death (guy though that it is the natural evolution of pcs) that we get *some* traction. Still we are far and away to seeing them becoming trully useful. But it is a good start that we are finally getting *some* choice that is not (an) Apple.

      With foldables in the low end and 2in1 (in the high end) I think that the tablet market would be fully be represented (by both sides). From scorned, they will add up in the pocket/backpack of everyone. Much like in westworld, people have given up on phones (in that world) it is the era of Tablets (which doubles as both their laptop and phone). Tablets *are* the future, even if it means beating their existence on people's heads.

        Last year May I bought the Galaxy tab S6 lite and last year in December I bought my mom a Galaxy tab A7 10.4.

          IPad is the only Apple product that is worth to buy. For laptop we have Windows. For phone we have Android. And they are both great and joy to use.

            How the in the world samsung grew to almost 20% percent what

                AnonD-973296, 08 Feb 2021lol apple destroyed the competitionAs usual Apple holds about half of the tablet market. Apple takes tablets serious. How apple 'destroys' the competition is beyond me. That competition showed 40% and 60% growth figures (samsung and lenovo).

                By any means Apple didnt destroyed anything but is showing reaching its maximum size tablet wise.

                Android 4sure has a lot to learn from apple tablet wise but lenovo and samsung are showing that they actually started doing that.

                Bad news for Apple that Bye The Way shows a growth figure of only 3 % .
                Next year they will go into the minus.

                  They did this for many years... But finally a real competition starts, after Android tablets finally start coming with top specs.

                  To be honest, i still buy iPad for my kids because even 3 years kids can handle ipads so easy peasy for them. But for me and my wife... No thx, been there done that.

                  So good luck we can buy some different stuff you know, som like the daughter others want the mother 🤫
