14 February 2021
After looking into the performance of the two chipsets, we decided to move on to some differential battery comparisons, as well.

Yup same battery life that's good but in long run exynos will not last that long due to heating issues.

Tommy, 14 Feb 2021Naah, they are on par now and exynos can be even little bit... moreSamsung only fixed the battery life on the 2100 compared to the 990, the heating and throttling issues are still present. Likely having higher clock speeds but a matching performance with the SD 888 took a toll on its thermal management.

It's a stat with which you can compare it with other phones and set an expectation. For example, my previous phone was iPhone 7 Plus, which had 75H Gsmarena rating. before buying 12 pro max last month, i checked their reviews, and saw 95H for this phone. I used to get 5 hours screen on time new on 7 plus, so i could understand from the gsmarena battery test that iphone 12 pro with larger display and all other changes can still add 26% more battery o my 7 plus screen on time. I am getting 6.5 hours SOT with same usage.

And yes screen on time will differ based on apps, usage, and ambient temperature. India has a very hot temperature and I stay in Kolkata. I get better battery life in winters than in summers. So I can relate. When I play pubg(with vpn sadly, due to ban), my Ipad gets much hotter in summer and battery drains nearly twice as fast. So much so that I have top place the ipad directly infront of AC to even touch the back.

Apparently Exynos 2100 still a step (or half step really) behind SD888, but the performance does get much closer compared to the previous generation.

Hoping that it'll match or even outperform the next gen SD8xx as next Exynos 2xxx will have custom AMD GPU.

In India, most of the user reports contain mention of the poor battery life. I didn't expect that a phone with an endurance rating of 114 hours would have an SOT of 4-5 hours.

This is actually great news for folks who live in Europe, because Exynos flagships no longer falls behind SD flagships. Yes, SD888 is still a bit more powerful, especially in GPU, but endurance isn't an issue anymore. One can get superb experiences with both versions.
