Anonymous, 06 Sep 2012Why it is unfortunate for someone that people still use Gin... moreSure that's the case. I am one of them. I've bought a Low-end Android device which came with Froyo so I put CyanogenMod7.2 which is 2.3.7 and the experience is astronomically better.
No need for ICS or Jelly for now, I've got too few ram so I don't need them running.. yeah, I don't have Chrome browser but who cares, there's Dolphin ;)
Cheers

Hmmm.. Good change, Its all upto the company what updates they are offering to its users. Everyone loves to have JELLY BEAN in there OLD Smartphones.

    1. Samsung are lazy enough to think about updates for old smartphones, they focus on only new smartphones and poor old user begging when is the update and they have common response as "SOON".. LOL..

    2. HTC gives updates but for few selected models.

    3. LG & Motorola - they are on big fight with top smart phone firms and they try to end up with standard updates.

    4. Others They try level best to beat the top smartphone sellers but users are always behind of Big Smartphone companies.

Conclusion: If any Smartphone company works hard and come together to give update instantly upon release date without any barriers support like for 1 year updates free. Every buyer would love to have it, ultimatly they end up with rooting there phones which almost many of them doesn't want to do so. :(

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2012Updates also mean security fixes and the way Android update... moreno risks dude! but jellyben added a lot of security protectors and better security and privacy terms! however using avg mobilation free on my ics and on gb before updating and no problems at all! it is really the best! real time protection, browser , sd card, and all what you need, however rememebr system in droids are isolated from storage so viruses can only affect your apps work but not system ! it is know as a smart thing in droids !

Updates also mean security fixes and the way Android updates are moving, huge numbers of Android handsets remain at risk.

                            2) Maybe Google need to start kicking the likes of Samsung who are pathetic at supporting devices more than 6 months old, and therefore have neglected to release an official ICS ROM for (CM9 is not bug free enough to be a viable substitute)

Why is it so amazing most people are still on Gingerbread? Most Android phones either can't run ICS yet, or can't run it at all. Not everyone owns a Galaxy S3 or HTC One X. The launch of ICS has been little short of a disaster. Some phones and tablets which were previously promised it now won't get it - Xperia Play being the example most of our customers have complained about, with people actually trying to return their phones to us after the announcement. Yeah people can download custom ROMS but I have NEVER spoken to anyone who has done this or has any interest in it or who would dare to risk it for fear of downloading something buggy, unreliable which may brick their phone.

I just don't like the way how android updates. I believe that updates should be delivered to the end user directly like iOS or WP

I'll stuck at gingerbread forever unless I buy a new device. This is what I hate most from android. If Apple can update their iOS without rely on the phone manufacturers (WP can do that too), then why android can not do that?

                                  Finally : bye android

An os will only be as good as the apps that support it! Most are still 2.3 optimised! No point in having latest os if it wont run apps/games how they were intended. For instance raging thunder 2 runs beautiful on gingerbread but lags on ics despite the graphics acceleration on ics. Not good! Also no official adobe flash on jellybean!

People with phones like Galaxy S and variants are still "unfortunately" on GB because Samsung denied their ICS updates, even though they can run it without any problems.
