Anyone using phones for business need to back up to local storage because the cloud isn't A) secure or B) reliably accessible. Dropping SD card support has always been about selling expensive phones and never about customer convenience.

You only call it extreme is because you have a limitation when it comes to spending power. Do you think people who can truly afford will also settle to something you can? I don't think so. Like what I've said, the highest sound quality possible is limited by how deep your pockets are.

NeonHD, 21 Feb 2021> "Just face it, Micro SD support is ending in flag... moreI never said SD cards are obsolete - except in flagship smartphones, because to begin with, the topic is about Samsung's removal of the Micro SD support in their S21 series lineup, and I thought everybody was clear on that. I only clarified it when one of the members here diverted the subject and generalized the topic, like what you are trying to do.

By all means, no one is stopping you from having your OTG adapters plugged in permanently to your smartphone because after all, you already admitted Micro SD is obsolete from your previous post.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2021Just face it, Micro SD support is ending in flagship device... more> "Just face it, Micro SD support is ending in flagship devices, we all know that."

You keep saying that, but it does not prove your original point, which was that SD cards are obsolete, which is not true.

And I will repeat again, that does not stop people from using OTG adapters to read SD cards from their phone.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2021If you were to be given, for free, which one will you choos... more> "If you were to be given, for free, which one will you choose?"

Well that just changes the entire argument. Obviously if anything was for free, the most logical decision is to get the best one. But this was NOT the initial argument you made, therefore it is irrelevant.

Even so, today's $100-500 DAPs have improved so much. Only the most extreme audiophiles will cash out $1000+ for an expensive DAP, meanwhile most other audiophiles (like me) will be happy with a $300-500 DAP.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2021Like what I've said, Micro SD is becoming obsolete in ... more "Currently, how many 2021 flagships are there that have a Micro SD support? None.... according to this site's phone finder, last 2020 there are only 16 devices price ranges from 700 Euro and up that still have Micro SD support."

But that doesn't make SD cards an obsolete technology. Say what you want about SD cards, but in the end you're not proving your point. If not in smartphones, SD cards will still continue to thrive in all other technologies. And besides, you can still use an OTG cable to read SD cards.

> "When was the last time you've seen a computer that still comes with a mechanical hard drive?"

Well, that's precisely my point. So you agree that mechanical hard drives are obsolete in today's computers. Almost everybody agrees with that.

An SD card, however, is not mechanical. It is a circuit board, just like an SSD. So if you call an SD card obsolete, you're also saying SSDs are obsolete, which you obviously disagree.

Either you do not understand how an SD card works, or you need to make up your mind.

No one is winning nor losing to begin with since we are having a mere discussion; exchanging of thoughts and ideas. But since you are that triggered, that is your problem and I hope you now feel better about yourself. Have a great day ahead or have a pleasant night. Cheers.

NeonHD, 19 Feb 2021Wow, out of all the high-end DAPs you could've listed,... moreIf you were to be given, for free, which one will you choose? A $1000+ or any sub -$500? I doubt you will still choose the sub -$500 because in reality, you want the best as much as possible. Like what I've stated before, an audiophile will spend thousands of dollars for that perfect setup because they demand the highest sound quality possible, but sometimes, that highest sound quality is limited by how deep your pockets are.

Currently, how many 2021 flagships are there that have a Micro SD support? None. Even the Chinese brands - except Huawei, removed that feature, and according to this site's phone finder, last 2020 there are only 16 devices price ranges from 700 Euro and up that still have Micro SD support; most of them are Samsung and Huawei. I'm guessing you will still be holding on to your flagship device or settle for a mid-ranger in the near future. And why do you think gaming smartphones do not come with Micro SD support?

When was the last time you've seen a computer that still comes with a mechanical hard drive? Computer these days comes with an SSD, and most people who uses a mechanical hard drive upgraded to an SSD one. Most people I know do not even own an external hard drive because their setup is an SSD for their main drive and for their storage. And the moment I accidentally dropped my external hard drive, it was the day I switched to a portable SSD.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2021MicroSD is becoming obsolete just like what happened to MiniSD.Smh.

One does not compare an apple to a pear, when the context is obviously apples vs oranges.

Now let me ask you something: which is more obsolete, a microSD card or a mechanical hard drive?

Get that into your dense head.

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2021If you are truly are an audiophile, I suggest get yourself ... moreWow, out of all the high-end DAPs you could've listed, you pointed out the two most expensive and luxurious ones, only to justify your point.

You don't need a $1000+ DAP. Any sub-$500 DAP is good enough, like the Hidisz AP80, Shanling Q1, or HiBy R5.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2021Just face it, Micro SD is becoming obsolete in smartphones ... moreJust face it, you're hopelessly trying to win a pointless argument when it's clear to everybody you've already lost.

But please do keep telling yourself lies and untruths to make yourself feel better.
