Jesus, Mediatek and Omnivision are coming full force now lol.
I remember when Omnivision sensors were utter trash and now they are surpassing Sony's!

Had Gionee Elife phone with Omni camera, very good sensor, not so good at night, but quality was excellent with not much noise reducing happening. Hope to see this company grow to match Sony.

Go OmniVision! And please don't limit your sensors to one model like you did for Mi 10 Ultra!

At this sensor size, 25MP is achievable with little quality loss. Also, these sensors are upper mid range sensors where they can probably get away with a little quality loss.

Omnivision and Samsung would be stuck with tech from 2012 if Sony was not making sensors. They always copy Sony.

"Still, it can do 2x digital crop zoom with 12.5 MP output"
Due to the microlenses, the result might be worse. That's the reason why Google and Apple don't output 24 megapixel photos, although their dual pixel sensors have 24 million pixels.

                  "This is similar to Sony’s 2 x 2 on-chip lens system"
This isn't just similar, it's the same technique:
Quad Pixel sensor instead of Dual Pixel sensor. Currently only very few phones have a Quad Pixel sensor.
By the way, Huawei doesn't use a Quad Pixel sensor. Some reviewers mistook Huawei's Octa PD autofocus (which is a marketing term for Dual Pixel Quad Bayer autofocus) with Quad Pixel autofocus.

                    Omnivision is killing it

Can't wait. Similar to MediaTek, this brand has gotten MUCH better over the past year (just see the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra; primary lens is Omnivision).
