It is really getting old. Pixel phone image quality detoruates sharply as one zooms in.

Ok, so 25x macro is overkill. Actually, any macro is overkill, but this beats them all. And if that's really the case, I think I will have to go with Samsung 21 Ultra this year...

12 series do not use same of 11.
Apple, Samsung and Huawei are always getting new sensors every year.
For example S7, S8, S9 and S10 all use different sensors.
There are tons of 12MP 1/1.55" dual pixel made by Sony and Samsung.

Furthermore the iPhone 12 does capture more light per time than the iPhone 11. 26.5% more light per time, though that's not much indeed.

Furthermore, you wouldn't notice a significant difference between the 1/1.56" 50MP sensor from the Reno5 Pro+ and the 1/1.43" 48MP sensor from the Find X2 Pro while using the same SD 865 chipset. What you really should matter more is the chipsets' Image Signal Processing aka ISP - that is basically the key to the camera's photo processing software algorithm. The Apple iPhone camera is a great example of that statement - the latest iPhone 12 models (except for the Pro Max variant) has exactly the same camera sensor as in the 2019 iPhone 11 series and the 2018 iPhone XR/XS/XS Max, but they are all using a completely different chipset altogether. As a result, they all don't share the same photo quality.

Sony IMX766? That's the same sensor from the Reno5 Pro+ main camera. Sounds interesting to see Oppo will use two of them for the main and ultrawide camera. This should be good.
