Also, I have a Xiaomi phone, so I am not hating Chinese products. But, both US and China are the same. Choosing one or the other is just a matter of perspective, but in the end you don't win with either.

No doubt if Nokia and Ericsson wants to use their patents, they'd have to obtain a licence. But then they usually do cross patent licensing.

I don't care about 5G but would be veey happy to get Hiawei flagship device at reasonable price. And I'm sure billions of people around world don't care about 5G too.
