aquinoes, 23 Feb 2021This is the way. Almost there: 1" sensors are so close... moreGreat setup you have there. Enjoying my P40 big sensor for a while already, with an APSC Fuji camera. Computational in smartphone is getting better, in fact, in terms of DR, I can dare say it surpass my APSC camera. About 15 steps of DR, and that is almost Full Frame level.

To be honest, lots of time I just shoot street photography just by using my phone currently 😝. If theres a proper event, the needs for printing, then came back to my Fuji camera.

Huawei P40 Series has better sensor. IMX 700y. It has an RYYB sensor amd Dual Pixel autofocus as well as Octa PD

This is the way. Almost there: 1" sensors are so close to sweet spot...

Already enjoying a GN1 sensor on a Vivo X50pro+ and it's a massive difference from any other mobile phone sensor (I have access to may be a hundred models due to my work. I know what cameraX API is). I also have access, seldom, to a Canon 5d mark IV (with an Tamron G2 24-70), and use(d) to travel with an Olympus em10ii (with a M.Zuiko 12-40 PRO and Pana 14mm) and this sensor is phenomenal (this sizes plus the computational gains have buried m43 to oblivion). The quality of the photos reminds me that of the olympus pen EP2 (a 1.100$ [+ another 1000$ in lenses] especialized equipment from 2009, with 12.3 MPx, almost same than GN1 12.5 MPx), it may seem not that much from 2021 perspective, but that particular camera was a game changer due to its quality and portability.

Diagonal of m43: 1.33" and 4.3um pixels in 12.3 MPx; GN2: 0.83" 2.8um in 12.5 MPx (after binning). But when computational photography makes its 'magic' this difference almost evaporates.

Well done Samsung. Next year Vivo x70 deploying it?

Jake420, 23 Feb 2021Correct me if I'm wrong isn't that phone releasin... moreLooking at the timeline of the Vivo X series phones, Vivo launched the X30 series in December 2019 followed by the X50 series in June 2020 and the X60 series last month. So if Vivo is keeping that same timeline, we might be seeing the next X70 series in a few months time. But we'll just wait and see anyway.

Aierlan, 23 Feb 2021Will probably see this soon on the Mi11 pro or Mi 11 ultraBoth, I think the only difference between the pro and ultra is the camera layout and secondary display, the pro might have two telephoto cameras instead of 1 like the ultra.

YUKI93, 23 Feb 20211/1.12” sensor size with 1.4μm pixel size? It took a little... moreCorrect me if I'm wrong isn't that phone releasing next year? I was about to get the s21 ultra but might just wait for the mi 11 pro without the secondary display to compare.

YUKI93, 23 Feb 2021I wouldn't hold my breath on that. It could be the old... moreDefinitely not, no way they're gonna use a sensor inferior to the OV48C in their latest flagship

SpectreYT01, 23 Feb 2021Mi 11 Ultra already has it lolI wouldn't hold my breath on that. It could be the older GN1 sensor.

1/1.12” sensor size with 1.4μm pixel size? It took a little while, but finally - we are now in the Nokia 808 PureView territory. But with this sensor still being a Quad Bayer sensor in the first place, I wonder how would it fair up against the Nokia with its native RGB Bayer filter and its oversampling method. And since this is the successor to the GN1, I wouldn't be that surprised to see Vivo will use this sensor for the next X70 Pro+.

Mi 11 Ultra already has it lol

Will probably see this soon on the Mi11 pro or Mi 11 ultra

i'm now wondering if they are gonna put this on the note21 ultra, since with the 108mp with 9 to 1 pixel binning is useless, this one is much better even if its not fully 12mp, at least 12.5mp

This sound similar (on paper at least) to what Sony did with their Pixel Shift Multi shooting starting with A7RIII.
Gosh, that sensor is huge tho!!
