On top of that, so called "Octa PD" might be just another way of saying DP on a QB sensor. What Samsung calls DP Pro is essentially the same as Sony's 2x2 OCL PDAF which is a superiour technology to the conventional DP.

That is why you see smartphone brands always try to get their HDR algorithm right because that would compensate for the lost detail.

I like the sound of the larger sensor but not the higher megapixel. I feel like higher megapixel counts don't help alot in making a sharper image especially with the small phone lenses. However this huge sensor I'd expect would make a huge thick camera bump.
I have yet to see stellar low light performance in atleast 1080p. Someone needs to implement the Canon LI7050 in a phone.

It's just that today's smartphone camera sensor with large Megapixel are now relying on pixel binning technique so that they don't need to build a thick camera sensor in the first place. So it doesn't matter if it's a 50MP Quad Bayer sensor or 108MP Nona Bayer sensor, you still get 12.5MP and 12MP respectively when pixel binned. So yes, 12MP IS still enough.

All the "12 mp is enough" folks are slowly dying out lmao
The new standard sweet spot is 50MP
People who saw this new high mega pixel count trend automatically assumed that the technological weather was the same as in the past
They weren't paying attention to how modern sensors are using quad bayer and are getting considerably larger in size this was not the case in the past
