Anonymous, 08 Mar 2021They won't :) Trust me, none of their sensors will hav... morePhones have never used real time HDR claimed as possible by sony while using QB sensors. Otherwise a single frame should be enough to deal easily with exposure compare to old phones.

No phones and no cameras ever use the CMOS at 100% potential.
Mainly because CPUs do not have power for it (maybe those from computers).

Doesn't matter, when the app and handling is horrible.

The distortion correction seems cool. Ultrawides now either have shit quality if they go for higher field of view and lower field of view if they go for higher quality. If they fix it, that'll be nice. Sw distortion correction is terrible.
Or at least someone else will implement it properly.

Looking at this new model 9, it will be flagship. And it'll have no expandable storage.

With the amazing camera tech OP developed, it'll be a waste to not capture pics in that 12bit RAW.

I'd much prefer to have 1TB expandable storage for my leisure pics and videos on the go (OTG pun intended?) so I can easily remove the card for backups, remount & reuse.

Shanti Dope, 08 Mar 2021I'm not really interested in the OP9's camera sys... moreThey won't :) Trust me, none of their sensors will have any hardware stacking and tonemapping HDR features. I mean you are right, it would make too much sense to enhance Auto mode using these features instead of going all software post processing but I would assume these new frame stacking features are not compatible with what Xperia guys expect from their sensor and that's speed, autofocus and exposure madness.

Lens distortion is a major problem on mobile phones, so this looks really interesting.

I look forward to the release and real, non-DXoMark reviews or cross-postings here..

Shanti Dope, 08 Mar 2021I'm not really interested in the OP9's camera sys... moreKeep dreaming.

Sony will never set the default cam app to use HDR 100% of the time like other brands do.
They will let phone choose, like it has always been.

TheLastOracle, 08 Mar 2021So much hype. They should just work on influencing DXOMark,... moreHmm nothing like influencing DXOMARK for recognitions what other major OEMs doing is to have a partnership with a known Photography Company to take their photography to next level. Computational photography has limitations and that's why Google is seeking partnership with Sony. If Samsung has partners with other recognized photography company their camera computations would have improved well

haha, oneplus is good at creating the hype. their marketing strategy is what makes their phones sell. the same thind happened with nord. Oneplus is so clever at getting attention lol

Anonymous, 08 Mar 2021what is this was not even interesting in the very slightest... morehttps://phandroid.com/2021/03/08/first-look-at-oneplus-and-hasselblads-150-camera-collaboration/

It's a proper partnership. I put this out for the trolls saying otherwise.

Basically OnePlus Paid $150 Million to Hasselblad for Highlights and shadow correction, something I would do in Photoshop or Google Snapseed in 2 minutes.

This is the worst Deal ever, for $150 Million they could have bought Hasselblad itself 🤣

                      This is Epic Fail

Lol, this is gonna debut first in the Find X3 Pro almost certainly, the only thing 1+ would add would be the "Hasselblad" optimization I guess

what is this was not even interesting in the very slightest

you usual the oneplus camera is going to be the most mediocre camera and I'm looking forward to the imx800 lens

all this hype for distortion correction??

this is going to be a massive failure

So much hype. They should just work on influencing DXOMark, that would go further. On a more serious note, I don't think their camera will improve much. The majority of improvements in smartphone photography will deal with CFA, and Computational Photography. And staggered sensors helpmimprpve motion blur. That's what they've been created for, specifically.

Namelesss, 08 Mar 2021Let's just hope it makes the price of previous Oneplus... moreYes yes already the base variants 8GB 128GB are at:

                              Oneplus 8 $500
                              Oneplus 8t $600
                              Oneplus 8pro $700

                              Get them phones cheap. 💰

I'm not really interested in the OP9's camera system.
What's interesting is how Sony now uses DOL-HDR and dual native ISO for their smartphone sensors, which could mean that they could finally integrate computational photography in Auto Mode without sacrificing the ability to capture photos rapidly fast with their phones.

For a phone company to make a good camera system isn't only about getting the latest tech, but years of expertise and R&D, so not really hyped for this camera system as I'm sure it will be "Meh"

There is no info on resolution.
The source is weibo account of OP.

I do not like the 16:11 ratio.
The portion not used for still is very significant.
I suspect total resolution is between 55-60MP, having 48MP stills.

Let's just hope it makes the price of previous Oneplus phones decrease even more for those who do not want the latest and greatest.
