Samsung is not Apple, Samsung will never invent something cool, will just innovate around something cool invented by others. The hype on this bugged concept (folding screen) Samsung came with is disappointing, because no matter how much they pay influencers, the fact that the display can only be soft plastic (no matter how much they try to market it as some kind of glass) will always have more downside than a half sized glass display. Eventually people will figure it out, unfortunately they are the ones that pay for this useless stunt.

wongwatt, 11 Mar 2021Not if you treat it like an expensive device - the folding ... moreI fail to see the difference in the hinge being different strength in both scenarios. Granted both being mechanical in nature will have weak points but I'm more concerned about the constantly exposed display.
For starters I don't care for foldable devices at all as they don't fit my lifestyle. My lifestyle includes lots of outdoor activities be it backpacking in the great outdoors, hunting, fishing or boating. Big factor in my choice of device.
Secondly, I use my phone on a dash mount for GPS when I go on road trips (my phone is way more advanced than the beater cars I drive) and I'd rather not have a tablet taking up my visual space unnecessarily. I'm sure there are many people with my (or similar) views but there are also people who want such devices. To each there own.

Inward folding is flawed from an engineering standpoint, no matter what you do just using it weakens the display and hinge.

It's way more protective to have a big screen inward that outward that can with just a small drop, crack your so big screen. Or it would end up with scratch easily ? In long term use, I don't see the point.

I don't know why you're trying to argue with me here. What world do you live in? Everyone's complained about the Razr and the Fold breaking, but nobody has said anything about the Mate X or Mix Alpha breaking. The facts are there and you choose to deny them.
