There is so much misinformation in this thread.

Fact 1: Yes, VoLTE/VoWIFI (names for the same thing, only different if you're phone is on Wifi or LTE/Data at the time of call), is carrier dependant, though ALL 3 carriers support it if you're in Australia

Fact 2: No, you do not have VoLTE or WiFi on an Asus phone in Australia, you're thinking of something completely different if you believe that you do. You can't even access the page in Settings that enables it without the dialler code *#*#3642623344#*#* which does nothing without doing other stuff with root (this used to be possible without root until a few android versions ago)

Fact 3: Unfortunately, even though, yes, all they have to do is add the Aussie carrier specific MBN's into the fire are for VoLTE to work, and although you can do this yourself with root, they aren't allowed to just go ahead and do that without certified testing for emergency numbers working with VoLTE. Even if we already know that they do, they still have to go through it to be allowed to use it in any specific country.

Hopefully this sheds some light on the matter

People are getting top level performance with it.
I feel bad for people trying to pin this into the gaming category.

You will barely use this phone for 2 years, after that u will switch to another one. About updates? Well, not sure, but maybe xda developers can suggest soke roms for it. Remember what asus rog phone is for. Its for gaming. Its not just for daily use.

Maybe it is your carrier that is the issue. I have wifi calling. I don't know about VoLTE because I don't know what that is.

Do NOT but an Asus phone. I bought the ROG phone 3 a year ago and now there's a 5 .. but the problem is there is no WiFi calling and no VoLTE either and tons of bugs like downgrading the widevine level .. no Android 11 and unless you live in one of the special countries Asus could be bothered to release an update for giving you these things. Most of Europe? Nah who cares about them. Not having these features in 2021 is just a joke but mainly Asus don't care

[deleted post]What compromises? Just because it doesn't have 8K OLED 300 billion Hz display? Because it doesn't have 15 cameras just so they can brag they have 15 cameras? Because battery isn't 15.000mAh? Literally none of it is an issue or compromise. The IPS display outputs amazing image regardless (and I had SuperAMOLED's as well as much higher resolution IPS displays before it), camera is just one, but that "just one" does exactly what I need it to do. Snap really good photos without fiddling what angle I want to use and with NeuralCam app I can even snap them in basically pitch black darkness and they are bright and sharp. And 3000mAh battery, despite being on smaller side has never been an issue thanks to tight OS optimizations.
