There is obvious weakness on the frame as it need to accomodate side usb-c (causing a bigger hole in the side frame)
but i thought Asus have seen this coming and reinforce the sides with some extra steel plates or something.

I think it's was the new horizontal split battery design that caused this.

I found this video heartbreaking, Ive been enamored of the Rog 5 since Gsmarena's review...even the total lack of the most basic rubber gaskets couldn't turn me off. it looks like sneezing on the phone might short it out, but I don't care
however, that easy snap was too traumatic to ignore. the Rog 5 is an *extremely* long phone, and here in NYC years ago I got to hear several different Iphones snap that one year they were so vulnerable...the i6 or i6s, I forget.
barring some kind of stainless steel or carbon fiber case being available, I can't imagine paying 1G for this phone, waiting for that moment of disaster.

No matter how some people in here are trying to defend this phone, the result speaks for itself. This is a bad designed phone. Is beautiful, is powerful, is just bad designed internally.
Is the same case scenario, like the iphones or the ipads models that bended under pressure.

There goes the phone i looked up to....yes you may never bend it accidentally or sit on it but still for a costly phone ,the build integrity is lost...need a sturdy case for the phone

I have Redmi Note 7 and according to Jerry's durability test about it, Redmi Note 7 is fragile and failed. I have this phone for 2 years and I can say it's durable. I mean, who would buy a phone and bend it like Jerry do? Only psychopaths do that 🤣

If a phone was s... moreit's possible to do, this phone (or iphone 6) placed at your back pocket and u accidently sit down, if you don't have a tough case, the phone could easily bend within a tight jeans back pocket against hard seat corner.

a bad design fault as the frame is weakened by the 2nd USB port in the centre and the phone bends and cracks entire screen and frame like iPhone 6, they overlooked this weak point, presumable a good and non bendable case will prevent this (largely), should be an issue with forthcoming asus zenfone 8, zenphone 8 mini and zenfone 8 flip as there is no need for a 2nd usb port which mobile gamers find useful for charging (no need dangling off balanced charging or for their gaming accessories)

No one goes around bending their phones like that. If they want to demonstrate how well a phone fairs against that type of stress then sit on it and check the integrity of the frame afterwards.

With the chipset shortage, I don't think we're gonna hear from LG until fall unless they work with MediaTek's Dimensity (which, for the Velvet, I would absolutely approve).
