Interesting that Pete Lau didn't mention anything about the phone camera, this simply means if you need better cameras you'll have to shell more than $999 on a premium OnePlus offering, which is questionable.

They did something similar with Nord by giving it Sony 48MP camera and killing the hype, no doubt the camera was capable but dated!

That way Redmi Note 10 Pro Max would be a worthy consideration if not OnePlus 9R.

salarx, 18 Mar 2021It's a competitive market. Rog Phone sells here for €5... moreYes but considering OnePlus sales are virtually nonexistent in Europe it's a strange decision just to launch the two overpriced flagships that no one will buy

Pete Lau and One Plus' marketing campaign (Peter Pan and Neverland) is so secretive that it seems more like than a phone, news that man is already living on Mars. There's nothing better than introducing a phone that you know will be one of the best, cleary... here it´s!!!, without having to hide things so much. When you hide it means you have to sell smoke to create a great HYPER. They'd better be careful with their quality of tinted issues screens, which look like they were made in a banana republic country, hammered between a brass bowl and a car headlight.

JayCube26, 18 Mar 2021Why only in India?! It's a competitive market. Rog Phone sells here for €577. If Asus launches a Zenfone this year, it'll sell like hot cakes. Poco X3 Pro is coming too. So they need something that can compete with Xiaomi and Realme, and do it before Asus does it. Not to mention there's Galaxy F62 already.

In US they don't need to. Nobody is eating away their flagship sales. If they don't launch a midrager in India, Xiaomi and Realme will eat away sales of their OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, so they rather let their own midranger eat their Flagship Sales.

            Why only in India?!

Region specific lol. If this was $399-$499 in America it might be able to compete with the a52 which is set to dominate

"We are focused on expanding our smartphone offering to cater to different user requirements with the OnePlus 9R by providing a robust flagship experience at a more accessible price point. – Pete Lau"
