Anonymous, 20 Mar 2021Samsung has already giving 45W charging.
Apple, LG, Sony, ... more"Has already giving" - maybe not, or at least not recently. If I am not mistaken the latest S21 series have 25W charging speeds. The only ones that had 45W were the Note 10 Plus series and S20 Ultra (maybe I am mistaken). Probably to say something like "Ohh, we can do this you know, but we don't want to, now be gone". Lol.
Which is even worse mentality, imo.
But anyway, bottom line is, that everybody should enable minimum 30W charging speeds. The classic excuse that fast charging above 30W will decrease your battery life very fast, should not be used anymore. Is like those fairytales for scaring the kids to go to bed. Lol.
Apple used it brilliantly for years.. ahhm 5W chargers.

Apple and Samsung have left the chat. Lol.
I am waiting for that day when Samsung and Apple will break that 30W barrier.
We live in a world of speed, even now with these lockdowns, I want my phone ready as soon as possible to be used. Especially when you buy a good phone. I don't want to wait 1.5-2h to charge it.
30 minutes - 45 minutes should be the new norm nowadays.

good thou i was the one buying proprietary 30w charger and now it will become obsolete (but hopefully downwards compatible).
Funny how Chinese brands outperform old dinosaurs in wired and wireless charging. It's cool to see this competition.
Regarding battery, can't care less if it's destroyed, i buy flagships for months not years. And yet I do slow overnight charge in 99% cases, as it simply makes sense (where else to place the phone if not 10w slow wireless charger?).

AnonD-834088, 19 Mar 2021Are you serious ?mine sits on charge every night, wake up in... moreYou can do it and it should not cause degradation of the battery on modern phones. There's an inhibitor chip built in. The danger is that doing that all the time is putting more pressure on the inhibitor chip than necessary and it will eventually fail. Quite apart from anything, it's a total waste of electricity. The phone should charge in under two hours, it just simply can't logically be good to charge for eight or nine hours Plus if the inhibitor chip fails and you won't know it could cause a fire in a worst case scenario so it's not a good idea. I'm just as guilty but I try to not do it when possible.

AnonD-834088, 19 Mar 2021Are you serious ?mine sits on charge every night, wake up in... moreIt is not the speed of charging that degrades battery. It is the heat that may build up (compared to slower charging where heat can escape during few hours). If temperature of the chemistry is below 40C/100F then degradation is not that noticeable. Charging itself degrades battery, especially charging over 4V per cell (about 80% charge state) no matter slow or fast.
Slow or fast upper voltage is always limited to ~4.2V. So fast charging will always start to slow down at charge state ~60-65%. Slow charging usually starts to slow down at 90% charge state, fast charging is at that same speed at 90% (voltage 4.2V is the limit). After 10-30 minutes battery can not take any more and voltage is 4.2V, no current flowing.
Electric vehicles that are rapid charged hundreds of times do not show extra degradation (except at higher temperature climates).

I'm curious. Does the phone itself heat up while charging wirelessly, or is it just the pad?
