[deleted post]No lack of Chinese companies to take over from Huawei... Huawei will re-focus on wind-farms, missile guidance systems, cloud computing, you name it. Chinese govt couldn't care less; they'll just drop a couple of hundred billions on some other player, who will out-price the competition. Trust me, we'll continue to use Chinese phones for many years to come...

Nani, 21 Mar 2021We may hate them because of its country but should definite... moreNothing to hate about China. Great country and great people. Not much to like about the Chinese government though, and perhaps that was what you alluded to... As far as Huawei is concerned, it's a solid tech company, but there is nothing magical about it. It was popular because it offered good phones at prices lower than the competition... Huawei is over as a phone manufacturer (they'll focus on networks, electric cars, etc), and we'll soon only be talking about Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo instead, who will offer very good phones cheaper than the competition... Life goes on...

Trust me, it is hopeless to use a phone outside China without Google Services. Sure, you can use gmail through a client, Aurora will get you the apps, and there are plenty of alternatives to maps. I'm sure Harmony is fine (nothing special with Android anyway). No Google Drive and no youtube stinks (you can still access videos through browser), but there REAL issue is that thousands of other apps won't work without Google Services. Trust me, this will really make your phone pretty much useless. I can't even use edulink1 for my son's school... I'd say 1/3 of ALL apps that need some kind of account (so pretty much anything useful) won't work for you... How fun is that?

Had used Sumsang and iPhone for many years before signing up a P30, which is just amazing, all advantages in one phone. I am considering gradually migrate from Android to Huawei`s own system. Tried their map, superb.

Also Huawei is a weird word

I've had a lot of Samsung phones. I've tried Apple but they are trash! You can't customize it like you can do Android. Then I ran across the honor view 10. $400 it was the best investment I ever made. It has so many options that iPhone and Samsung has in one phone. The honor 10 light. Man another great phone just alittle bit to big. 5G came out and now the phones is useless. I stop use honor and poco phones they to big. 6'4 inch is crazy I have a s7 edge great size but it's not a honor phone. The bezels are way too big.

I remember how hugely the P20 Pro was praised. Huawei phones have always traded blows with the Samsung and Apple ones. The pictures look a lot more attractive than reality but somehow some people don't like it. I don't necessarily PREFER it over natural colours, but I definitely like them.

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2021Maybe ; but Huawei will be always be number one in my heart. My all time favourite phones Honor Note 10, Mate 20x and P 8max.. I had a lot of other garbage but these 3 are hands down the best in their time. Mate 20x is my all time fav. Largest screen in the world, huge battery, flat screen, good camera, ir port, headphone socket, Dua speakers, decent speeds - there is no competition...

It's their CEO... so he is trying to sell their brand. But their first phone, the V40, after the split from Huawei is worse in specs/price/quality than their previous 30 series. So for now what he says is a lie. The only thing i expect is a blatant price increase of their products trying to replace Huawei's place in the market due to the USA ban. But with worse phones. Time to time. Hopefully we have alternatives, Huawei still manufacture the phones with the best cameras and also Xiaomi has improved a lot with interesting phones that are top now.

Loved my Honor Magic 2. Until the USB C port failed. Fast charging stopped working, and the stereo sound output. Replaced it with Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, which is arguably more premium. But still 😢

Marvy, 19 Mar 2021Sorry, but no one but nerds depend on stock android, the av... moreIn India, most of the people prefer to flash roms. That's why Redmi Note and Redmi series was popular. Asus became popular with two devices and then they couldn't launch the device. Same happen with One Plus. They were fine with 5T and after that no such spectacular device except One Plus 7 Pro which was very costly. Prices are close to flagship yet they can't provide features which flagships provide.

"the new devices will have better camera and processing features, since the team is now cooperating with external partners like Qualcomm and Google, and is not relying only on internal manpower like Huawei"

This makes absolutely no sense. The reason why Huawei's image processing is so good is due to the fact they are solely relying on internal manpower (i.e. Developing an efficient noise reduction algorithms in collaboration with the overseas university and designing in-house ISPs that support it) instead of just buying chips from elsewhere. It's highly likely that they won't be able to pull the same software magic on SD SoCs like they used to be on Kirin, and also how does Google have anything to do with Honor's cameras lmao.
