Samsung double-folding phone coming this year, report claims

22 March 2021
Apparently the company has a litany of patents for such a double-hinged design.

The note+fold will become the successor, blending the note and tab lines together

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2021The war of folding will begin. Something to "brag"... moreThey make money off people who buy coz of specs but do not use the full capability of their phone. Like flagship buyers using theirs like a cheapo midgranger.

So much resolution / refresh that the cpu / gpu cannot keep up and lags and battery drains. While the use case is so niched.

It give rise to specs lovers.. whom do not even know much, just think more the merrier..

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2021The war of folding will begin. Something to "brag"... moreLiterally none of those "wars" are destructive for consumers. We should feel lucky OEMs have competed hard over the years to give us options ranging from the cheapest budget phone you can buy to top of the line flagship with all the bells and whistles. We have so many options now it's ridiculous.

Nick Tegrataker, 23 Mar 2021I honestly don't see any problem with that.Samsung brags about the quality of their oled, but decides to use one from inferior quality?

What's next, ram/storage from SK and camera omnivision instead of own in-house?

"The device would have an unfolded screen aspect ratio "in line" with mainstream options such as 16:9 or 18:9, to let more games and "other apps" "run more smoothly with better resolutions"."

I wonder how is that even possible in the first place. I might as well just wait and see about it.

Nobody is fo... moreThat's a great attitude and I would follow that suggestion without complaining except for the fact that increasing the Fold line is putting a strain on the available chips that is now ceasing the release of a Note 21 Ultra. I prefer the Note series over the S series so the S series is not an option and that leaves the r3tarded fold/flip line of devices which I have even less desire.

The war of folding will begin. Something to "brag" about.

Just like the core wars, ram wars, resolution wars, refresh wars.

But just like all wars, its meaningless and destructive.

I'm not entirely sure how they will achieve double folding phone tbh. Is it going to be the hybrid of inward + outward folding like shown in many of random renders/concept images on the internet? If so then it would probably follow the same fate as Mate Xs.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2021Samsung plans to use BOE oled on cheap phones. LOL ... ... moreI honestly don't see any problem with that.

here is a trick to sell more foldable phones i.e try to make them cheaper if possible, more people will probably try to buy them then
