Xiaomi's foldable Mi Mix Fold brings the first liquid lens with 3x magnification

The internal OLED display measures 8" in size (4:3), the external display is 6.5" (27:9). The phone is powered by the S888 and has a desktop mode.

      Being exposed directly to the sun, a human body may only get warm, but a phone can easily reach 60°C when left unattended.

      There's no need to divert the question to anything else that's totally irrelevant to my question. I just need an explanation about what would happen if it gets exposed to higher than 60°C temperature or what they have done to prevent the liquid from evaporating or deforming inside.

        Oh, they finally managed to disassemble the actual Samsung Fold? :))

          3 years updates, 4 years of updates.... These are just bragging rights by companies and nothing more than a marketing scheme to dupe in new technically challenged buyers.

          I have personally witnessed so many shopkeepers push 'new' mid range smartphones over
          'old' flagships citing that the mid ranger would get more updates.....technically selling them an inferior phone for their money. In these cases, the mid ranger starts to slow down in usage compared to the flagship for obvious reasons despite the extra software updates from the company.

            The Huawei Mate X2 currently is the most expensive smartphone/foldable on the planet. It costs around 6000$ in my country.

            The fact that you equate cheap price with China phone tells me you know nothing about Chinese phones or smartphones in general.

If Samsung uses SD 888 for the Z Fold3 while keeping the same exact price tag as the Z Fold2, Xiaomi had it, especially when you consider the Samsung gets three major OS update, four years of security patches, and has USB 3.1 with Samsung DeX.

                    big sensor for foldable, thickness matters but it better than having tablet in the pocket...
                    tele macro is exciting too, finally some useful macro lens, now if they also added faster lens for awesome bokeh...but they will eventually I guess.

                          This one is an actually conceivable purchase (given that you buy two products in one) , the other is merely a way for Huawei to show technical prowess.

                          Still the Mate x2 is way better. Thinner, smaller , usable external screen (phone like) and above all flagship grade cameras. So yeah, they cut quite many corners to make this foldable cheap. Still it's good to have options. And ofc it disembowels the Samsung foldable (as is tradition)

                              Anonymous, 31 Mar 2021This is a little something I learnt in science class: 1.... moreWhile it is true that liquids have different evaporation rates, Xiaomi clearly indicated that this liquid lens can operate at a maximum temperature of up to 60°C, so I was curious behind this threshold limit.

                              Not sure about the need of presence of air for liquids to evaporate, but even if the liquid lens inside is not going to completely evaporate, I'm quite certain that temperatures higher than 60°C can deform it inside and maybe turn it into something like a moisture inside the space.
                              It's quite hard for me to explain exactly what I'm trying to say, but I do appreciate your detailed and informative reply. Thank you very much!

Mi Mix Fold has better main screen (Amoled 1B colors even without HRR) but the external / cover display has HRR, better CPU and GPU (using Snapdragon 888), bigger battery and faster charging, better speaker (stereo with 4 speakers), better selfie camera, and maybe better in rear camera too (using the new Samsung Isocell HM2 108MP with 7p lens and independent chip for the camerea), and still...it's much cheaper than Samsung Fold 2 and Huawei Mate X2.

A status symbol? maybe but are they worth the money? HELL NO ,the fact that these phones can be scratched much easily itself does worry me but concept of tablet + phone sure does look cool and could be usable if you sometimes like to watch stuff and maybe sometimes just need to use your phone for small stuff

                                        1. Different liquids evaporate at different rates; and
                                        2. Liquids only evaporate when exposed to air.

                                        The liquid inside the liquid lens is in a vacuum and not exposed to air and, hence, unlikely to evaporate. The liquid itself may not be water based and unlikely to evaporate as quickly.
