Ingress protection (IP) is basically an excuse to spill coke, coffee, mayonnaise oozing from a McChicken sandwich burger, and for one to spit and splutter fine droplets of phlegm ladened with coronavirus onto an IP-rated phone, without fear of cleansing the phone with good old-fashioned soap and water.

Ingress protection is basically an excuse to seal up the phone and make it as hard to repair as possible. Don't fall for it!
