Custom SoC? The perfect excuse to add an higher "Custom premium" price for a modded Exynos 1080.

Please allow me to correct you. For the most part you are indeed correct concerning Google's inability to do/get anything right, with the exception of two major things/aspects. Google is THE master, bar none in:
• on-screen ad-shunting
• data trafficking.

You're comment is most certainly illuminating with your correct statement in relation to Google, "trafficking my data". I've never previously read or heard it described in this manner, but you are most certainly right.
Human trafficking is a serious crime in international law and a grave violation of human rights, which threatens national security and undermines sustainable development and the rule of law, as recognised in the Declaration of the High-level Meeting on the Rule of Law.
Similarly, data trafficking ought to be serious crime in international law and a grave violation of rights of the owner the data.

Pound for pound or dollar for dollar the current range of Pixels on offer are incredible value for money. Will be really interesting to see what the 5a and 6 delivers and especially if the Sony image sensor is upgraded as well. Already pretty darn good. In Google store in UK currently priced Pixel 5 £529, 4a5G £399, 4a £309. I have 4a5G. Won't find a better phone for your buck!

One last thing, Samsung does not only represent Exynos, Samsung is more than Exynos. Remember SD chip before 845? Their chip are designed by SAMSUNG as well! It's too early judge Samsung would fail the chip itself. SD 888 now has proven improvement is observable with less heat after few updates and patches.

Basically if Pixel and Samsung plan worked well, we're seeing Dev are pushing the boundaries of GCAM. There's no such GCAM ONLY WORKS ON QUALCOMM things happening. The last puzzle is Google and how will GOOGLE interpret the GCAM algorithm with Samsung's ISP.

Y'all are being so funny, GCAM only works on Snapdragon? Checkout those GCAM ports! The main reason GCAM is more seen on Qualcomm devices is not only of the greatness of Snapdragon, it's more about Dev Source.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2021Im located in Sweden and pixels arent officially released h... moreI live in Spain and here in the most important cities we have 5G. Google has done whatever it wants. I had to buy a Pixel from the UK because it is not sold here (which I returned because of the poor manufacturing quality of the screen). For me it is a total lack of interest of Google to make money and a disregard and discrimination to certain countries. But they do have an interest in spying on me and trafficking my data.

The best way to punish brands for their issues as soon as a phone goes on sale is for customers to shamelessly use them to test the bugs. Or simply because the phone has something that destroys the experience with the rest of its components, solution: is NOT TO BUY IT. We have become accustomed to buying phones and taking risks on the basis of whether they are good or bad. Then brands will start giving more for less, especially more quality. I'm not going to buy the Pixel 6, until other users - guinea pigs - buy it and discover the bugs. If you want to be one of those guinea pigs, go ahead. I have a SO BAD experiencie with Pixel 4A 5G (i must to returned it because screen issues)

Shanti Dope, 02 Apr 2021Why would they have to develop their own custom SoC when th... moreGCam APP to use some of the Pixel's AI potential, only works on Qualcomm. If they use Exynoss, people will continue to take advantage of some of this software. Google wants to differentiate itself like Apple, not just in that sense from Apple, but so that people don't use something similar from Pixel on other brands' phones. Being a single SOC, they won't be a copy.

I hope that this being based on Exynos will mean better GCAM support for Samsung's (older) Exynos devices. Mine have always had overheating issues and a laggy experience, but the resulting image really has my preference over the stock one. If this partnership somehow manages to improve this, GCAM will be the absolute best with 0 cons

I really hope there will be a triple camera setup - but no useless 2mp sensors! Main (upgraded sensor) + tele with at least 3x zoom + ultrawide
Also a better selfie camera with no blur issues.
Don't care too much about the chipset choice, as long as there is no heating problem.

beep bop boop, 02 Apr 2021they should have partnered with Qualcomm, but what if they ... moreGoogle will never get anything right. The issues in Pixel 4A, 4A 5G and 5, are swept under the rug when they sweep. No one who has had a bad experience with these phones in the last 3 years expects Google to lift its head up any more. It's far from a bad phone. They are excellent phones. But the poor component quality, the horrible design, the mistreatment of the customer, outshine the excellent Android, the power saving or the AI Software for the camera (remember they are not the best cameras, it's the best AI software for cameras hands down). In addition, marketing are children in nappies, all late, bad and discriminating many countries in Europe where if you want to buy a phone has to be from abroad.
