Apple doesn't count preorders as sold. These 5 million actually made it to the customers. There are still a ton more orders in the pipeline waiting to be fulfilled. Samsung on the other hand counts shipments and preorders, not units sold.

Today, if you want the best smartphone, you only have two choices: The Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5. Both have their advantages and disadvantages (I won't dig into that now), but I guarantee you'll be happy with either one. Ignore the rest of the noise.

Now that's sad. Money isn't everything you know. I agree that rich people can buy Apple products with ease. but these poor people are better off buying products that are more practical, offers the same or more features, and cheaper. That's because money does not come easy for them. They have to work really hard for it.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm not an apple hater or supporter. the same goes for android.

why is it that the GS3 launched fine with no flaws. Probally some but nothing major but the ipoop5 launches with screen failure. faulty wi-fi (IOS 6)

The only reason people see GS3 better than the iPhone or(android in general) its just because the iPhone is dull and haven't changed that much since iPhone..sure they updated IOS but it dosent look that different in terms of UI customization and security..every version of IOS could be jailbroken
but most of the updates are HARDWARE ..which comparing to other Phones the iPhone some what fails here...

In my own opinion, a large number of people hates Apple (the company) not the phone itself. Don't get me wrong the iPhone is great phone. The reason of the hate is because they don't play fair in the market. An example would be suing a competitor for a generic form of patent (ex: rectangles with rounded corners). Also their pricing is too ridiculous to begin with. Let's take a look at the iMAC vs PC. Most of the time an i7 PC will cost half the price of an i7 iMAC. The price of the iMac is too high for most people so they tend to buy whatever is cheaper but with the same set of hardwares. The same goes with the phone, as of this moment GS3 is slightly better in the hardware department than the iPhone 5 (CPU chip & screen size) yet is costs less than the iPhone 5. Most people just wants to get what's best for their hard earned money.
