Olixar shows off Sony Xperia 1 III and 10 III case designs (and the phones themselves)

05 April 2021
They match up with the @OnLeaks renders, meaning 3.5 mm jacks for both models and a shortcut key for the Mark III flagship.

Non-issues such as accidental touches are solved by using a case with raised edges. Bezelless phones make using a case much more enjoyable than the legacy junk phones. Not using a case isn't really possible anyway since modern phones are fragile and slippery pieces of soap.

In truth there is nothing inherently ugly about them and they serve a very practical function which less easily swayed people appreciate.

Plenty of people who use smartphones (most of them which are big these days) have them.

The Black Shark Pro from last year was a big phone.
The Poco X3 is as big as a regular sized phones in 2021.... You just have small hands!!!

You still haven't given me any good explanation as to why a user should pay 385 Euros for the Xperia 10 II??? Just because it has a compact factor??? I don't think so...

But the opposite is also a problem, fitting for the sake of not being different isn't great either, people need to be themselves, and it is the same for smartphones, Sony has its own identity, the stuff they do isn't for the sake of being different but rather because those are good decisions, alternatively some say LG died because it tried too much to make phones like the other brands but failed at it.
And in a sense it is true, it failed at keeping its fanbase but didn't really get attention outside them.

There are reasons why 12Mp has been the base resolutions for a considerable amount of time on DSLR and that only recently they got an increase in their resolution, it is a minimum, a standard, but also it isn't really necessary to go much further than that, binning can have its Pros, but for a while the best camera phones often had 12Mp sensors and not those crazy 48Mp+ ones.

DQ, 07 Apr 2021I agree with you that it is a subjective matter, and for on... moreI also fully agree with your answer!
I can see how based on the way you grab the phone that it is unnatural, for me, it would be with the side FPS, and though my index fall where the rear one is, I don't like the sensation of it.

Yes, indeed, most of the time it isn't an issue, BTW I often talk about the necessity to make a security chip that would work independently of the OS and would protect the boot menu, meaning that even stolen, the phone would be useless, reducing considerably the number of cases of this model would be stolen.

I, too, love their features, I would just love for them to make few variations of their models for such preferences to be covered.
If they ever make a Xperia 1 or 5 with underdisplay ultrasonic FPS and a pop up camera I would instantly buy it.
I am not talking about them changing the base model, but rather making some sub-variant of it.

And with my current OnePlus 6t which have buttons on both side, it happens from time to time that I press accidentally the power and volume down button at once which take a screenshot, my girlfriend sometime also do this by accident when she uses my phone, so I can clearly understand what you mean here!

That's a great deal. Also there is no $200 phone that takes better pictures unless you are buying some banged up flagship from 2018.

But here is what you can buy, you can buy Realme 5 with 665 for $220, I bet you are going to have so much more fun with that than with X10II or Xiaomi Mi A3 or Oppo A9 that are even more expensive than X10II but still have the same 665 chipset.

AnonD-909757, 06 Apr 2021I just made a HUGE comment explaining exactly what you seem... moreI agree with you that it is a subjective matter, and for one, the side FPS is not a good option when the phone is in a holder (I have a desk holder next to my laptop and used to have one in the car), however when the device is on a table it is just as easy to place the finger on the display as it is to place a registered thumb on the side while you grab the phone. In both instances it will unlock the device without any issues.

As for the side FPS being thin and less secure I can see that as an issue, however I've never had a problem of having someone else unlocking my device. And if my device get stolen (a very frequent case in my city) it will be erased and sold instead of unlocked for whatever means. I don't fear a "less secured FPS"... if I was that paranoid I wouldn't use it in the first place. The convenience of it is king.

The issue for me with front and back FPS is that it is not the natural way for me to hold the device. The front FPS requires the user to intentionally move a thumb to the display while holding it, and the rear one requires me to move my index, which would normally be on the frame or more to a side on the back, and place it dead in the center which feels unnatural. I have tried it countless of times. My wife has a Pixel 4a, my mom has a Samsung a Nokia 6.1.

But yeah, if you are happy with front FPS then cheers, however I am so glad that Sony is doing its own thing here since basically every single feature has been the better way to do it in my opinion.
                            - Small bezels for true Front Facing Speakers
                            - Side FPS
                            - All buttons to the right (I hate opposite side buttons cause I press them unintentionally all the time)
                            - 2-Stages Camera key
                            - 21:9 Display!!!!!
                            - Headphone Jack
                            - MicroSD Slot

Almost every design decision in the X5II and X1II has been practically perfect for me.

PS: I fully agree on the post you linked.
