They're already lost their value long ago. No one will miss them. And guess what, who's next? Nokia. Huawei. Vivo. Oppo. Anyone who thinks locking bootloader, not giving kernel source despite the GPL v2 because it doesn't generate income? Guess what. Sure it doesn't, but it gives value to it. If I have a phone, who survives 2-4 years, sure it won't generate income for the manufacturer. But if anyone is looking for a new phone, I would easily recommend them phone from that manufacturer, because I trust it. I know its value. That doesn't come from manufacturer who thinks locking bootloader, give lame excuses for not giving updates, try selling relabeled phones, is the only gains more customers and add value. Sure those strategy is more likely generating income in short term, but in the long run, they're losing. Mark my words for those who keeps thinking like that, will be out of equations for sure next time.

Screen isnt a big problem for LG,but inside design is.
Since it is rollable, you cant put a big battary in it.
Can you endure a rollable phone with 8in display and only 2000mah battary(which mean 2 hours screen on time)?
Unless they make a big move in battary,I dont think we can have any rollable phone in a few years

Funny people want this kind of devices but have illusion of price near $1200.

                        You cannot compare both.
Samsung is top20 most valuable companies Forbes ranking, LG is top even top 100.

Samsung makes many of the components they use, while LG has screen and battery only.
Samsung can burn much more money on advertisement.
Samsung has much more money to spend on software support (of course LG has always been lazy).

LG is to blame here, but none should expect them to be rival of samsung same way they to for TVs and kitchen appliences, much smaller markets than mobile.

cool, lg smartphone what i love is nexus 5 even i dont have it. in this time you stopping smartphone industry, it is good time to think why you died.

I am saying again, LG is making a mistake. This is not the right solution. What they should have done is to release the rollable phone, price it right, and CHANGE their marketing strategy. If much weaker companies can survive, LG why not? In my opinion in 3, 4 years they will try to come back. :))

[deleted post]‘2018 has been a witness to the exit of these companies – Kenxinda, YXTEL, ZUK, Billion, OBI, TCL, Acer, Datawind, Leeco, and Comio and more’
This is a report from 2018 don’t roast me this was the number of companies that left the INDIAN market because of Chinese companies and these companies were supposed to leave in 2019
‘Some of the companies that are expected to exit India’s smartphone market in 2019 are Rokea, Puncher, OKWU, Lychee, Sony, Mediacom, Forstar, Centric.’
The only 1 who didn’t leave was Sony but still they are a very small part and read this👇
‘Chinese smartphone brands, viz. Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, had together taken over a market share of 46% in 2018, while Indian brands, like Micromax, Lava, Intex and Karbonn were left with a meagre 8% in the same time span. The reports also specified that Samsung had a hold over 26% market share which left 16% market share to smaller smartphone companies in India’
This data was taken in 2018 all the Chinese companies together took more than Samsung’s share even if you take Xiaomi out of the calculation BBK is still bigger than Samsung the main reason for this was Realme all the way back in 2018 which pressured many companies to leave

-All this Data is from 2018 which is 3 years ago but the market is somewhat similar today in India

LG had a lot of opportunities to overtake Samsung (the S6 fiasco, the Note 7 scandal, the S8 design change, etc) but they always messed up. I was really interested on the G5 a year after it was announced, but stayed away from it after reading how half assed the modular part was and the hardware issues it had (along with its poor battery life).
