As a designer I know although we like to emphasize designing is this very big thing, A good designer can pan out a design in a couple of hours. Especially in the case of HTC they didn't have to invent any major technologies for the phones and the casing design doesn't take long to do. HTC copied nokia when they put one x . They are now continueing the trend

NOKIA does not say anything about colors because this colors are used in the user interface WP8 and WP7 series. They can be changed according to your wishes.
And HTC X8 front panel design is from their own old WindowsMobile device`s 3-4 years ago :

Fact is that ALL Wp8 phones will look like the Nokia's because Microsoft dictates what buttons should be and were they should be. This doesn't hold.
Perhaps Nokia is seeking ways to get out of their Microsoft agreement. And what better way than to provoke a fight with your neighbour.
