08 April 2021
The company expects 300 million devices to run its in-house OS by the end of 2021.

Android builds on Linux also so whats behind the first Beta 1 to last Beta 3 and developers had a first chance in beginning of april to adapt apps for Harmony Os 2.0.

China first market to get Harmony Os 2.0 because of support from the developers so im sure its a new Os against Android with there own Kernel.

Emui 11.1 to Global devices in same time last i heard and it will implement the Micro Kernel to easy

First reported comments about android fork are from Beta 1 from December now we are at Beta 3 and stable comes in June so i guess alot can have changed under time and before its ready for the public.

I want to se the steady public version before i take any predictions how the Harmony Os 2.0 works and functions.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 20211 - it's called a "fork", look up what that ... moreIt can't be completely new / brand new if they are using the source code that was already implemented, even if it's open source. That definition is wrong.

Regardless of how awesome the P40 you got for dirt cheap is doesn't change the fact that Huawei brought this upon themselves by doing shady deals under an umbrella company with Iran.

OhNom, 08 Apr 2021No, no, I remember 300 million devices said with Harmony OS... moreyes, that's what I meant. Phones, appliances and all that. Still, 300 million in a matter of 6 months is very optimistic.

You don't necessarily have to be a 'blind fan' just because you use a particular brand. You can also be critical when you think it's deserved. After all, no brand is perfect and no phone is perfect. Supporting everything any company does just doesn't make sense.

An0n, 08 Apr 2021Yup, that's the truth. Rebranding to its core. No one ... moreif you don’t accept the new OS is on market it’s your right. but please acknowledge the art and marketing strategy Huawei engineers used to avoid the past mistakes of window phones and others which resulted in Android dominating 80% of market . So find a reason why harmony OS has Android codes in.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2021I don't hope for the best for Hauwei, not at all. Re-... more1 - it's called a "fork", look up what that means in terms of open source software.
2 - it's not about the OS we're talking here - it's about integrations. I'm pretty sure even I can make my own version of Android and it will run fine (relatively speaking), the idea is that removing Google's APIs and stock apps, you can't just release it and be like "you'll fund something", they actually made competitors and integrated them in the OS (presumably) so they can work the way we take for granted with Android.

I have a Huawei P40 Lite here that I got just for tinkering (damn good phone for $120 by the way) - even if you go through all the hoops to get Google services on it - notifications in most apps are still not working because of the APIs and restrictions. If Google wanted to, they could easily make any non-Google version of Android dead on arrival, the though of that alone should be enough to convince anyone.

I don't care about Huawei, Google, Apple or any other company, the reason I care about Huawei succeeding is because nobody else is even trying.

SpiritWolf, 08 Apr 2021They needed 3 years to rebrand Android? Genius.Yup, that's the truth. Rebranding to its core. No one made a fully developed OS in just "three" years. And they still rely on Android ecosystem, like it or not. Imagine you announced a brand new OS and telling every single killer apps developer that there code, need to be reworked in order to run in the OS. By the time they ask why they should do it, it is for just Huawei phone. Please, be real. And don't get started with they "emulate" Android within their OS. Why would you need emulator when almost all apps run within that emulator? Just made an OS that directly runs the "emulated" codes instead of emulating it. Oh wait, it already exists, it's called Android.

I wonder if os will be just as abandoned as android in software updates...

So if the P50 series with Harmony OS 2.0 will be launched in June, I don't think we'll be seeing the Mate 50 series launch in October unless if Huawei has silently prepared the new chipset along the way.
