Anonymous, 08 Apr 2021That's a question that nobody can realistically answer... moreI don't hope for the best for Hauwei, not at all.
Re-badging android to it's own name isn't a cure all.

Is it stil based on Android or this is totally a new kernel?

walkman8, 08 Apr 2021I know China is big and all, but how do they expect 300 mil... moreThey might be including smart watches and other devices too. Apparently it will be used on smart devices from some other Chinese brands for some home appliances like fridges and may be used in electric cars and so on. Before the American ban though Huawei was dominant in China. This year though they can't make phones in sufficient quantities and won't be able to make any high end phones very soon so I wonder how much Harmony will develop if they have no new phones

Well, if updating to Harmony OS is going to mean that I will lose Google Services that I have installed in my Mate 30 Pro I am NOT going to install it.

I know I have them installed WITHOUT certification but I don't care because they work perfectly.

And let's see what happens with the P30 Pro devices because those DOES have them installed at the factory.

It would be better if Huawei updated to EMUI 12 our devices !!!

AnonD-920712, 08 Apr 2021"...we can eventually hope that one day HarmonyOS 2.0 ... moreThat's a question that nobody can realistically answer.
Huawei has come really far in this short amount of time, if they keep up the phase and bring on-board more of the key-apps in AppGallery, this will be a perfectly viable alternative to Google's version of Android.
If you offer better hardware than the competition at a lower price with the only drawback being downloading what you need through another location, you'd be surprised how many people won't mind (just recall how many people actually buy stuff on Google Play).

In any case, everyone should hope for Huawei to succeed, not because they care for the company but rather because now that we know how broken the Andoid experience is without Google's APIs, having a viable alternative is something good for everyone, being it the same, slightly better or slightly worse.

Meanwhile My Honor 9x HLK-L41,is at EMUI 9.1 pie 😥

I know China is big and all, but how do they expect 300 million Harmony OS users in a 6 month period?

Just buy direct from China for all phones... Cheaper and easy too.
