Besides, the entertaining factor is low in electric cars compared to gasoline sports, muscle cars, any pleasure has is price, in gasoline here, a fair deal to me.

I own a Mustang GT, V8, the engine screams on the US freeways and I am Very Happy with my gasoline engine even though it consumes 15 liters / 100 Km or 15 mpg, it does not matter because the gasoline is very cheap here. I would not buy an electric car because its battery gets depleted fast, takes long to charge it, the electric car is more expensive than gasoline car, the electricity is expensive too and there is no fan when you do not hear the engine noises and feel the vibrations coming out from the engine. Some people like me just enjoy and have fun driving, not all living experiences are about saving energy and keeping clean the planet.

Definitely seems like the rate of adoption is increasing quite rapidly in the last few years. It costs the equivalent of around 11,000 pounds for a license plate for a petrol based car in Shanghai. There is currently no fee for electric vehicle license plates which is a big incentive to go green.

I live in a pretty non 'progressive' Conservative area of the country, and 1. I am seeing more and more Teslas on a daily basis. 2. I was out for a walk by the sea and out of 7 cars parked by the side of the road. 2 were Teslas. One a Model 3, one the original S. Of course, that's not the actual national sales ratio (7:2), but things are definitely on the up EV wise here.

If anyth... moreAgreed, but that doesn't change the fact they should also be paying attention and that we should never put complete and total reliance on a machine to drive for us. I'm not debating on if the machine is a better driver than most people, I'm simply saying that while sitting in a moving vehicle the guy in the driver's seat should still pay attention to the road. I mean I know her won't cause self-driving car, he'll assume it's flawless and just sleep or watch his phone but she SHOULD pay attention to the road.

Well, right up until the car drives him to the wrong place, misses his exit and the internet cuts out and the car drives aimlessly in circles as it recalulates his route.

If anything, self driving cars are going to make those idiots less dangerous. The best solution is always going to be paying attention regardless of how refined the software / hardware is. Yes, it's very possible 99.9% of the time, the computer might drive better, but the driver should still pay attention cause that 0.1% of the time the computer fails, the driver could die.

Though I also know even with their literal life on the line most self-driving car 'drivers' will just be playing on their phone or asleep or drunk or something.

Porsche is already suing Arcfox for ripping off their design.

Even if it's self-driving by a high-level AI system, well, if the computer messes up, the 'driver' could die if they aren't paying attention. Even pilots while in the air flying in a straight line that's maintained by the autopilot, STILL pay attention to the open sky in front of them cause technology isn't and never will be completely flawless and an accident could and likely would mean death. A self-driving car is the same deal. If it drives itself, other people around your self-driving car are still able to mess up and you got to be ready to preserve your own life when some dipstick suddenly cuts you off and brake checks you.
