Ghost, 26 Sep 2012omap to nomap.Cute, but mobile phones and tablets aren't the only market for these chips. OMAP has great features for industrial automation, medical devices, and automotive IVI.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2012Car makers? A declining industry...bad move. The automotive electronics industry is quite strong right now and expected to grow. Has less to do with car sales volume than modernization of new models needed to address a changing market.

Anonymous, 29 Sep 2012What does it mean? What is the effect on phone which has TI... moreI don't think that this will affect the devices that already have TI Omap. I believe that what will happen is that there will not be any new devices in the future with TI Omap.

very sad
OMAPs were great in nokia N8 & N9
and OMAP4430 is galaxy s2 i9100G was a lot friendlier to developer than the original exynos in galaxy s2 i9100
also have a longer battery life and produce less heat than exynos

that's too bad. OMAPs have always been top notch and with open source drivers. It's unfortunate they have not been used more. Sad day.

That's bad news. I used to have an old Nokia 6681 with a 220Mhz OMAP (when the number of.cores didn't matter). Now I have a Motorola Razr MAXX which also has a TI omap in it (dual core this time) and it's a great prodjct. I just can see nothing wrong with it. I also have a Ti-84 Silver Edition calculator and even a msp430 microprocessor that I programmed at college so I'm really respectful with anything made from TI. Well at least they'll focus on some other proyects but no more SoC from them is just awful news.

The future of SOC's lies in big.LITTLE architectures n optimum blend of power n energy-efficiency n whoever masters that tech. will be on top of the SOC game! Currently, Exynos seems 2 be the ones at d forefront of big.LITTLE n they (Samsung) are ARM's chief collaborators n i'm sure Qualcomm r also gonna implement the tech!

Poor fate.. Omap being one of my best companion during my master studies.! Total shift of paradigm once QCom came up with snapdragons..! Instead of dropping omap series Ti could have tried to include modem solutions into their SoC's, later could have given up.. ! bad.. I din expect this from TI....!
