Anonymous, 14 Apr 2021OnePlus sells? That's the first time I'm hearing ... moreOnePlus and Oppo flagships sell way more than Sony.

Nord?? Last year was the first time in years that OnePlus rolled out a Mid-ranger or budget device. They've always been budget "flagships".

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 14 Apr 2021Same old camera as last year.... Disappointing!! With all... moreThis is Sony's stupidity, regressive thinking or simply greed. There're far to many old 12MP sensors left, you know. Perhaps this is the way they save the planet - ulilizing old, obsolete pieces of hardware. Suspect that selfie camera is the same shit as on two previousmodels as well - too bad for narcissistic me! :)
Anyway, with this announce of Sony's old-new flagships they helped me with obvious now choise - finally get Galaxy S21 Ultra which costs less that Xperia 1 III will be available in few month in few distant countries! Cheers, Sony!

      yeah sony sells

Great further improvements, not enough to want make me need the 5iii as already have the 5ii which is already such a complete mobile phone already! Great to see Sony still pushing- the battery size increase will make the 5iii a beast as my 5ii is already very impressive!

[deleted post]OnePlus sells? That's the first time I'm hearing that. Maybe Nord line sells cause flagship line doesn't so that's why they introduced the Nord. And how does that Find X3 Pro sells in Europe? Did they break the magical number of at least 100,000?

Yuri84, 14 Apr 2021When everyone switches to 48-108mp cameras, they use 12mp..... moreThose high megapixels cameras are a gimmick anyways, most phone defaults to 12MP since pixel binning is better than using more sensors under the same color filter, which only improves details slightly, as noted by GSMArena

Yuri84, 14 Apr 2021When everyone switches to 48-108mp cameras, they use 12mp..... moreOne of the problem with high megapixel count is the processing speed. Yes, sd888 has very fast image processing speed, but I think it would still limits the burst shot capability to 10fps if Sony uses 48mp or higher megapixel sensor. Plus the pixel size for the 12 mp in xperia 1iii and 5iii is rather big.

While your Sony still can't get their auto mode performance correct despite being the ones who manufacture the HW.
No more than a decade old Chinese companies are getting their camera software right... Let that sink in!!!!

This is everything I actually want in a phone, all the gaming phone aspects including the headphone jack minus all the RGB gamer aesthetic. Straight class and elegance.

My "struggle to love it" ended up in a 1.5 month. Luckily I was able to re-sell it for a reasonably money to a curious guy who didn't know that Sony still makes the phones :). The only two things I liked about Xperia 5 II were shape / design / size and sound quality. Everything else was very average - not worth even a half price of what Sony sold it for. The most laughable thing that I noticed was ... insane amount of lens flares of main camera having T* Zeiss marking on the glass :).

The 5 is going to be the sensible pick here. It'll actually have battery life, and 1080p is unequivocally enough at that size (which also leaves it 0 flagship competitors on Android).

Same old camera as last year.... Disappointing!!
With all these in-house camera sensors to play with, they still put the same sensor as last year.... SMH. And folks over here wonder why nobody wants to buy Sony.

Great devices but needed available worldwide and below 1k usd. Otherwise, Just rich people and creators will buy these phones

I dont know, for me its not much of a gap. Well focal length are depends on each preference anyway. The truth is, I rather have new big main sensor with x3 optical, rather than same old same old main sensor with dual telephoto. Like Nick said, seems like Sony dont want to be near their compact RX series camera lineup.
