Sony is trying to ruin the mobile division and soon they will close it if it continues like this. They should be the one using sensors like IMX 800 and make a breakthrough in camera technology. Instead Japan is giving it to China to make them rule in smartphone industry.

Nick Tegrataker, 15 Apr 2021I take a lot of photos at night. I mean, who doesn't? /sbut most night modes are not even that good, very few phones have great ones like the Pixel's NightSight or iPhones 12 pro max, or OPPO's Find X3 pro with low noise and good detail, but most are not even that good, they usually have noise and low detail and sometimes blown highlights AFAIK

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2021Sony has said Quadbayer are much slower than Bayer sensors.... more"Sony has said Quadbayer are much slower than Bayer sensors"
They never did, don't make stuffs up please.
Circuit optimisation and stacked DRAM can drastically increase the readout speed. Also modern SoCs' ISPs are powerful enough to support < 7ms readout speed as long as the sensor output resolution isn't too high (e.g. iPhone 11 Pro), and most high end QB sensors output 12/12.5MP binned image by default. Nobody is asking them to create a mobile sensor that can scan the entire 50 million pixels in 5ms, but 12.5MP in 10ms? They could've made it if they really wanted to.

      "Why using for phones?"
BECAUSE they are phone cameras? You can't swap lenses on a mobile phone and that's when good digital zoom comes in handy. A regular super res image stacking can only double the spatial resolution at most, whereas on a QB sensor it can be quadrupled, effectively achieving 2x lossless zoom that works well in most lighting conditions.

"They do not want to use Quadbayer"
Yeah, I wonder why..(Gazing at folks working for developments of Sony's dedicated cameras)

A larger sensor will almost always win in low light video recording because the camera will no longer be able to rely on stacking or long exposure which would otherwise minimise the sensor size difference. You would have to buy a tripod or gimbal too since stabilisation isn't a strong suit for Xperia.

I follow last Japanese conpany in mobile in Europe.
Sure 100% I want this Xperia 1 III . The II is nice.
Unfortunately, people buy only always same models and conpany because Shops have often few models and few Sony

You can get much sharper images with the Xperia 5 iii with the photo pro app, if you adjust it properly.

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2021There is hardly any content that takes advantage of that 21... moreMore than 70 percent of contents in Netflix are in 21:9 ratio, which is a similar ratio used as a standard in movie theaters.
Besides, you could pretty much say the same thing for other aspect ratios like 19.5:9 or 20:9, as the vast majority of contents today are still shot in 16:9, but in the case of 21:9 from Sony, they actually have proper contents to make use of such ratio (Sony Pictures Entertainment owns many popular contents that are also made originally in this ratio).

Not sure if it's a co-processor or a standalone working SoC on handling the display itself, but it's quite certain that it's definitely not the SD888 that's making 4K@120Hz possible.
I mean, the SoC itself doesn't officially and apparently support such configuration, so it'd be bogus of Sony to say that it's the SoC that's handling this, unless we didn't know that the 888 can actually handle this.

I own an S20 FE 5G currently, however the XZ1 Compact I previously used produced precise true to life colours in scenes that weren't backlit or blown out (that has changed now). If you were familiar with Xperia devices, you'd know the white dot on the back of the phone is a colour spectrum sensor to provide accurate white balance settings to the camera, enabling photos and videos to have exactly the colours you see.

A bit worried about the S888 chip, but the 1 III looks very promising at least on paper. Will definitely have a look and take this into my consideration (usually the 1 III vs iPhone 13 Pro)

They forgot to mention the 360 audio with and without headphones. Like that frosted gray and black not sure about the purple. I am using the mirrored slate X 1 II right now and this phone is looking like a good upgrade. Like that new periscope lens too. I hope this screen is brighter.
