Hi. I did the water resistance test too. I went in with it to shoot underwater at 50 cm max and for max 2 minutes.
The phone shut down and won't turn on. I also kept it in the rice hoping it would fix but it's dead. You could see water droplets on the inside of the camera. After 30 hours in rice it won't turn on. I tried charging it and there is some popping sound like in the speaker. It doesn't vibrate at all like it's trying to start.

I'm having Mi 11 Ultra and it didn't survive some water splashes.
I visited the service center and they said that that water damage doesn't come under warranty. Then why does the company certifies IP68 water rating.

Xiaomi is far from decent. Safe from packing very good hardware their software is where they suck monkeyballs. Mi 11 ultra freezes, videotoolkit decided suddenly to not work anymore. Apps crash, device overheats and so on. Pretty expensive paperweight.
L. E. Mind you, i bought this with my own money. 1200+ EUR

But you have to maintain a 1.5 meter depth also a stopwatch running .. silly ads, I think iPhone ads is more accurate in a way how their product survive, like iPhone 12 fumble.

Yeah, well, so does the Mi 11 Pro, except, that doesn't have the back Mi Band 5 display and ceramic back that some people (including me) don't want. Release the Mi 11 Pro globally, Xiaomi.

Android-Authority, 15 Apr 2021They are the only company listening to their customers...
... moreDon't forget they fixed memory management as well.
It literally beat the S21 Ultra in memory management rounds on speed tests.
Mi is famous for reloading apps as most users don't tweak the settings for improved memory management and rely upon out of the box settings.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2021More like they were forced to add those features because th... moreXiaomi was never bleeding customers. In fact they added twice the customers last year by delivering devices that people actually want. Something that Sony has failed in the past 5-7 years.
Xiaomi added IP68 and other things to further meet requirements of the rest of the nay sayers and now more people are interested in buying Xiaomi this year.
You are jealous of their success, since it means brands like your Favorite Sony aren't as successful as Xiaomi

Android-Authority, 15 Apr 2021They are the only company listening to their customers... ... moreMore like they were forced to add those features because they were lagging behind competition and hence bleeding customers. If Xiaomi was some "people's company" then all of their phones would have features like SD card slot or headphone jack but look where we are now.

Professional, 15 Apr 2021That's for people like you,who are always complaining! For a four-figure generic bar smartphone, IP certification should be a mandatory feature! No excuse on not giving that feature where other companies like Samsung and LG can give it for way less money.

And then, when people will get defective units, or the joints would have worn down because of chlorine and the phone will get damage because of water, people will cry.
The thing is, many don't realize how bad phones are with water because MOST cases where a phone is actually damaged by water are probably not attributed to that, as water damage can take weeks or even months to really show up, many won't be able to make the relation.
So while IP rating have proven many times to be far from perfect, it might be far worse than we thought it is.
And because companies don't cover water damage and still put liquid damage stickers in their phones, such a video could start a HUGE controversy, it is literally unboxed underwater, and it is an official video, anyone who doesn't know about IP rating (so most casual buyers) would assume the phone is perfectly waterproof, but reality will strike.

They added IP RATING.
Switched from 1080p to QHD+ for their ultra flagship.
They reduced system apps memory consumption and bloatware even less than iOS in the miui 12.5 update.
If certain markets don't access to their phones, they launched phones under other labels to meet those market requirements.

Lol, I remembered that Xiaomi didn't put IP rating because they claimed that no people use it. Oh how time flies really hard for them. 🤓
