If not for Xiaomi, nowadays people will still pay 350$ for SD4xx powered smartphones!

You people r the reason why companies like Apple are getting away with their exorbitant pricing policy, because you people have always stereotyped 'Chinese phones = cheap = ads-invested = malware-rich junk'

    Not investing ever in Sony smartphones again.
    I just got an Mi 11 Ultra Marble white edition (12gb/512gb) for around 1150€ and I am very happy with it. Didn't want any compromises like you have with Sony.

      OnePlus does not sell even 7 million phones per year. It is the last of BBK.
      Huawei sells much more flagships than Xiaomi, despite the much higher price in previous years.

      Oppo and Vivo in China have overtaken Huawei.
      Xiaomi has never been #1 there.

      Just a proof that if most people of these 2 markets could afford more expensive phones they would buy Apple instead of xiaomi.

      Even the founder/owner of Xiaomi has been caught using iphone.

          Anonymous, 19 Apr 2021LG fans will buy Samsung, not Sony.It depends and differs among LG fans. Some LG fans do like Sony phones also.

          From my point of view, the preference of LG fans may depend on where they are from as different markets has different perceptions to different brands. It's likely that American LG fans would really buy Samsung due to the closest UI experience (still very different, but at least no one's UI is closer than Samsung's to LG's), but quite a portion of Korean LG fans may also consider iPhone instead (many Korean LG users buy an LG because they just hate Samsung, and the OS in fact doesn't really matter to them). Taiwanese and HK LG fans usually also love Sony phones (just below LG), so it's really possible for Sony to grab some of the original LG users. While I'm not certain about European LG fans (seems some went for OnePlus).

          p.s. HK LG fan here and looking very deeply among the iPhone 13 Pro, Xperia 1 III and the ZenFone 8 Mini for my G6 replacement (reasonably assuming no Rainbow surprise just before LG quit)

                Sony is so far down the list in poor as well as rich countries.

So if 1II is unsatisfactory for you during outdoors daytime it makes zero sense that you are satisfied with Pixel 4 at direct sunlight. Most likely you've been reading about complaints online about 1II/5II and now you are summarizing them here. Both 1II/5II are far from dim screens, complain comes they couldn't be as bright as the others like Samsung in default color space settings. On every phone as soon as you turn on color accurate profile maximum brightness drops down by a lot due to gamma tracking. That still doesn't excuse Sony for not doing 800 nit screens.

                            These comment section, I-... Just can't logically embrace it at all... Huft...

                            Don't like Sony or their offerings? You can choose another company you are suitable for! There are a lot of OEMs that may suitable for you!
                            Don't like Sony's approach that's more caters to traditionalists and purists? Others might fare you better with that computational photography.
                            Don't appreciate what Sony is keeping on their menu of features, as well as LG since 2016 when Apple began its trends? Well, just prepare if those features no longer exist and you'll be wanting it in the future!
                            Don't like shutter mechanical buttons now? Where were you these years when Sony put it on their phones? Sony already included in the way back on their Sony Ericsson Era and you're complaining it just now on their 1 & 5 Mark III? LOL
                            Don't like Photo Pro? Get over it. Their old camera app only lives on their 10 III and that probably only lasts another few years. Their flagship lineup will be getting even nearer to their Alpha counterparts with its UI and the processings.
                            Complaining about bezels? Well, what do you want? Watching a movie with a punch-hole or a notch? Since when a film is watched with those kinds of interruptions?
                            Is the price too high? Sony is known for that for decades, but at least the features inside the 1 III are full-fledged and everything, even with the kitchen sink, and how do you rationale's Apple pricing that's the same but lesser features?

                                    Obviously the flagship of the year.
                                    I always had an eye on Sony's phones but they were always one way or another behind Samsung's no matter how you wanted to see it. This year they seem to have brought be the best phone. It no matters by how small amount, or if some people think it is the best while others thing maybe not, It still is a shift of paradigm, and that has huge implications. Sony will gain significantly in market share, while Samsung will loose and along with it it's crown for android phones. The effort and money and market moves Samsung has put in folding phones made room for action for Sony. Tbh, I was tired with Samsung and their monopole on Android phones and I am very happy to switch to Sony this year. Hopefully they will not come short with the actual thing compared to what they announce. Good work Sony!

If you don't care about calibration then you're just a clown.

                                        The brightness is the only thing where you make a solid point tho, so I'll give you that.
