Also not to forget: Z Ultra was the first phone to achive the IP58 rating with a no cover 3.5mm headphone jack.

I dont know why so much Sony hating comment there. They use mainstream phone but still whining about xperia device spec here. 😂

I've had Sony phones since the W810i (which I sadly still have and it still works, great sound too)
I've always gone for a flagship phone at upgrade time. It's taken time but to be fair Sony have improved and I think the phone they are releasing now are some of the best out there.
They've stuck with what works and improved where needed.
              Updates are fairly timely nowadays
The android system is close to vanilla but they kept a few Sony apps people do use.
They've stopped the twice yearly rollout of multiple phones so you don't feel like your new 6mth old phone is now out of date and behind the curve.
The hardware is quite sturdy and reliable and can last years.
              Camera is good
              Screen is excellent
              Sound is good
I hope they stick around for many more years not come

                  had Xperia z
battery was terrible but average for the time
processer was very fast for the time
screen was good but let down
                  sound was average
camera was good for its time though led flash dies

build quality and durability was below average
very fragile screen smashed easily and side slots wore out eventually to close

I've read this article on Xperia ZL. It still with me all this almost 8 years. Yeah, this days it lacks some performance even using Chrome, and camera worse then modern cheap xiaomi, but still quite usable for surfing, texting and calling. And it more mini then modern Compact :)

Great advantage - I can easily replace the battery. And I done it 3 or 4 times. Also original charger dead few years ago.
All I can say - it was one of my best buys.

I proudly owned a z ultra back then. Sadly it never had a successor. There was roomers for a z ultra II but it never came to reality, sadly. I really liked the size and thickness of the phone. With some missed features added it would have been a bad ass phone or should I say phablet. I rarely use the phone function anyways so a great phone for surfing, watching videos and play games.
I really hope Sony comes back with a 6.4 inch screen phone and as thin like z ultra. I would love to buy one asap then.
Btw mine was shipped with a bluetooth headset and usb data/charge cable.

Horrible camera? Not quite, yes it wan't the best in low light, but it wasn't the worst.
Overshapened? That was Samsung, Sony had one of the least overshapened images at its time.
IP Rating? I washed and submerge every Sony phone I owned and none has died.
Low reliability? My Z2 from 2014 still works till this day, I just use it as a backup phone and a remote

Sony was the one who insisted on using 20+ MP cameras and proudly advertised those high MP. Well, those MP made for noisy photos.
