Indian people look for spec not naming scheme or brand name unlike US and European market. That's why indian market is so price competitive.

The govt gives tax sops to produce the phones here, its called "PLI". There is also extreme protectionism with high import tax. Best way to find out whether a phone is made in india is to compare its indian price tag with chinese, will be few 10-20$ cheaper if its made in india.
