Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo, ZTE to launch phones with under-display cameras this year

19 April 2021
The next-gen under-display cameras are reportedly "greatly improved".

Sort by:

Unbelievable to see high end flagships like Galaxy Fold and Xiaomi MIX is going to use the brand new under display camera technology... They already figured out some method to hide the camera under a QHD screen without lowering the PPI of camera area...?
If it's still like Axon 20, which lowers the PPI of camera area a lot, it will be terrible on those flagships.

iPhone 12 has higher ppi than S21. Moreover most of the panels used in current iphones are supplied by Samsung. I think you got sidetracked from notches/punch-holes to display quality. The problem is the notch and the overall bezels on the iphone. Display quality is comparable to Android flagships apart from the obvious lack of HRR.

iPhone displays are visually gross when compared to a high end display supplied by Samsung. The low ppi that the iPhone's continuously use are a joke.

No, it is not, pop up camera not only has still after almost 3 years have a really low amount of issues, less than many key components such as the display, the electronic and the battery, but there are absolutely no sign of premature wear that would indicate it will have issues anytime soon.
I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of pop up camera outlived the phones they are in.
This is because of this baseless "wear, water, dust, fragility, moving parts, drop" etc non-senses that the pop up is almost gone now.

The mechanical part is a bit of a down-side, but for me perosnally, I don't selfie much, so it never poses a problem.

because literally android only supports 2 years of software updates. major software updates because f*#k the security patches.

only if they give an option to unlock the bootloader.

but since people here are child headed, they keep battling why android is a much better software than windows 10.

I know I'll never see it but I really wish there were 16:9 phones available still. A vaaaaaaast majority of all videos I watch are still 16:9. And no, these are not old classics that I'm referring to but new daily released videos.

This is great news to me. I've been putting off upgrading my phone for years because of the selfie camera. The other kinds of full screen phones weigh quite a lot more than the punchhole/notched phones. If I am to carry a heavy phone it better be for its huge battery or size, not for a stupid mechanism I use 2 times during the entire ownership.
