I think Apple design for the first part of this century would be largely defined by a. "The Notch" and b. their persistent use of "The Chin". For anyone expecting to be wowed by Apple's design, prepare to be disappointed or at best feel half-full and wanting more, at least not till dear ol' Tim Cook's at the helm. The performance of these are top notch no doubt, and 1080p cam is a welcome addition (finally, sigh!). Dear Timmy, why can't you deliver products which look as good as they work? Why do you persist in creating half-hideous designs and brand 'em as "beautiful"? C'mon, give us a break, will ye?

kek, 21 Apr 2021lmao what enterprise buys iMac for their employees? Unless ... moreAn enterprise which has loadsa money like media companies. All those where I worked over the last 25 years were buying top end macs for their staff and the price wasnt a factor at all - macs were cheap in comparison to real proffessional kit.

Even desktops are throwaways at Apple. Base model only two thunderbolt ports?? On a desktop?? Oh the pretty colors don't do anything for usability. Sadly the Apple silicon has pretty much made all Mac's upgrade impossible. Better buy the RAM now because no upgrade options. Also Apple tacked on another $200 to base model. I would have thought Apple could have at least offered up something better for the price.

Can the web page designer here try to keep posts alive in cache, in case of crashes. I just wrote a post about a revolutionary phone design, as an example of what Apple should be doing, and my past suggestions in a forum with connections to Mac engineering, for a continuously horizontally expandable min blade system that far outclasses the new Mac Pro, but after seeming similar interest it was dropped and the more limited new Mac Pro was designed. Something that could get 10-1000 times the sales, and fit hundreds of very top end cpus and GPUs in one structure (not to mention the 1kw Mac mini design). That after Steve got sick he went more conservatively protective, but Apple needed to go on the attack again. If the moderators have it there (text you type goes through to the server), they have my permission to post it here, but only within the next day or so.

Janssen, 21 Apr 2021SSD still soldered to mainboard? No, thanks. It's not just SSD rom, even RAM is soldered, meaning you have to change the whole damn board if any one goes faulty or for upgrade. Can it be called bird brained engineering!! Does anyone actually believe these greedy self centred guys care or give a hoot to the environment!!!!

Is there any chance the tin-headed folks at Apple will put USB C on their phones!!
PS: Shouldn't be too tough as they already managed to put it in all their Mac's and most iPads!!

Every gadget must have many colors like cars have. So users can pick their favorite colors.

And it's nicely continuing legacy of iMac. Transparent colors in a single display+case box were super unique back then. And this isn't any different. Colored cases liven up the space in floods of black monitors and black and white computer cases with standard PC's. I'm a Windows desktop guy, but this does look nice. And running M1, we know it's gonna perform great. And the price actually not that crazy considering you get one of the best displays in existence built into this thing as well as paired with power efficiency and performance.

I don't understand this CPU decision move. I thought that the M1 cou is an Ultrabook CPU like the U series of Intel, why using it on a desktop?
