But Google could have put a SD780G inside the Pixel 5a 5G (like the Mi 11 Lite 5G, which is probably going to be still cheaper than the Pixel 5a 5G), rather than recycling last year's hardware, since its supposed to be well, an upgrade.

We're expecting google to release phone with Arm A78 which is the most power efficient right now. Or at least the one with A77. Certainly not the one with A76. which is 2 generation in power efficient.

The SD765 5G modem is a generation behind the SD780 5G modem.
C'mon,
if pixel phone is for developer,
it should be at the forefront of tech.

It makes no sense keeping the chip the same from last year when the camera will probably be the same too. That part isnt big of a deal since its still better than any other midrange camera.

Extremely disappointing. It's a zero upgrade over the Pixel 4a 5G in terms of processing power, and frankly the 765 is already looking long in the tooth. A 780G would be more appropriate at this price level. Guess I'll skip Pixel for another year... Google standing still while everybody else leaps forward. Maybe it's time for Google to exit the mobile hardware game altogether?
