The only thing I will say that sucks is not having access to GMAIL. That's really the only app I use on a daily basis, which requires google authentication. The G-Store/G-App workaround is a wonderful bypass to get access to those apps which require a google cert.
Waze is better than maps anyway. And you can use the browser if need be. I will say I miss chrome and all my sync info -- but chrome is a data and memory hog anyway. I certainly don't miss all the bloat and information data tracking tactics Google uses. So that's nice.
Ultimately though, I got the phone because I like being able to have a good camera phone. It's fast, gaming on it is pretty good, it's got a good screen, choice of hardware/materials, features, and the BEST phone cam on the market by far. All feel well put together.
I have a deep hate for iPhones and their damned fanbois. I will never understand those sheep, acting like the latest iPhone feature is a "first" but really its a feature that's been around for years. BUT I like how well their phones are put together. I feel the same about Huawei.

Actually, the only reason, why I didn´t buy Huawei until now was Android. HarmonyOS is the decisive criterion for me, so I am ready to wait. And my iPhone goes in the trash can. It's that simple!

My hubby got me a Huawei P40 pro for X-mas, Fabulous gift from him but the phone apps don't work or download and still don't work! Text message fight's with messanger and calls I hardly hear people, I can truly say this has been the most unreliable phone I've ever had and I definitely would not recommend to family n friends :(

In both Android and iOS (although ironically in this regard you might get a little more freedom of choice with the latter) you can pick a different search engine.
In iOS specifically once you set your region to a country other than the US all content in the native apps adjusts to your region of choice.

I just want an OS that is not bound to a USA culture of continual adverts, always assuming USA is the world and not just a country that occupies 1.867% of the earth's surface and 6.1% of the landmass. (World series of a sport that other countries have to be paid to play for example.) when I asked Google about the ladies figure skating championship recently held in Stockholm the first three items were about the USA championship, I am not an American and not based near USA! Ask about football known the world over and you get American padded murderball (a game we played as kids exactly the same.) the USA call football "soccer" so why should we have to? Ask about tech you get American reviewers first. About phones you get usa reviewers first - yet they cannot get half the phones we get due to trade restrictions! They still rave about the only phone they can get - the iPhone when it is far behind android phones in ability and screen/speakers etc. There are countless android choices but only the Apple series. All this comes on an USA formulated OS. I would welcome European answers to European questions. African answers to African questions sane for Russia, China, Turkey, Indonesia etc. Yet Google and IOS always promote USA first, why when the USA has only 4.25% of the world population? Will there ever be a none-biased OS? I doubt it but one can hope that Harmony OS can bring some changes so Google and IOS can respect the rest of the world.

Take the Mate 40 Pro+; That thing is probably what the Mate 40 Pro SHOULD have been, with the wider ultrawide, better telephoto, and OIS on the main camera. But Huawei knew that they would run out of stock if they did, and that their factories filled with P40s would have died out if the Mate 40s took the limelight.
Alas, you have a choice now: Do you want the new technology or do you want photography? If the answer is the former, pick the Mate 40 Pro. If you want the former, pick the P40 Pro or something.
I suspect that the Mate 40 Pro's misgivings are deliberate, to make the P50 Pro have an ENORMOUS splash before they close shop. I bet that the P50 Pro will indeed have QuadHD+ and 120hz that the Mate 40 Pro should have had, and that they will completely sell it out before they will simply die. Huawei has no more chips to power their next Mate 50-series.
