Kornetbeef, 03 Oct 2012Maybe Microsoft sabotage it!!!maybe nokia had made an agreement with microsoft that they will EOL the symbian when WP8 can make a full benefit for them. Too bad for them because definitely they gonna EOL the symbian, symbian still the best os from my opinion. Got an android with me but still i like more on symbian until now.

For good competition, it should be:

                Nokia + Symbian
                Apple iPhone + iOS
Google Android + everything else (from SIII to cheap Asian phones)
                Microsoft + garbage can

It's working like a charm after the update on my PureView 808. I have absolutely no idea what "issues" were there to report. Sometimes, people tend to over react irrationally - enjoy what the developers have put endless hours of work to develop rather than go on a fault finding expedition.

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2012im not sure if its all about this but i read some comments ... moreIn reality the update is fine if you do a factory reset prior to installing (or after installing). Most users whom encounter problems have hacked phones (including me). I hacked mine to remove the call recording tone and make the loudspeaker a tiny bit louder. After installing FP2 the new music player didn't work properly so I did a 3 finger reset. This turned FP2 to work perfectly.

Unfortunately there are some annoyances. The tricks Nokia uses to make Symbian faster is partly to remove unnecessary items and menus. E.g. the new camera app works fantastic except there's not exit/shutdown-meu or button. Another example, you cannot remove theme effects (which makes the phone screaming fast) which used to be a simple menu-option but is now gone.

Anyway, if you desperately need some hacks then it's best to stick to FP1 for now.

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2012after use Android , Symbian look really ugly OS.. Belle IS ugly. But a lot more functional.
At the end of the day it's about getting things done as efficient as possible. In that respect a humble Nokia 701 wipes the floor with most competitive smartphones out there (even Nokia`s own competive offerings).

Couple that with first class imaging hardware and the package seems really interesting. If Nokia had sold them at the start on the price they originally mentioned (450 euro + taxes) then it would have sold millions. But instead they do an N9 all over again, the bloody morons.

It's been about 36 hours of absolute pleasure of Belle FP2 on my 701. Barring lag for initial couple of hours the phone appeared alright. The more I use it,the more I like. But seriously whatever issues this update has just exposes Accenture's inability to handle the product development and release. Nokia must get it back in-house. And might just save them further embarrassing situatios.

me too noticed that androids consume huge amount of internet data over 3G even if i cleared the ram, my data plan of 500MB/month ends in 5 days with my S2, while on the 808 with the same use fbook, twiiter, mail only takes 20% of the 500mb data plan/month ! imagine that !

Also, the difference even in GSMArena compare tool is big, just go on the graphic image and put them in 8 MP scaled images and compare. The 808 kicks my superzoom's butt and believe me I have a good quality superzoom (but from compact category). 808's ISO 400 has much more details and less noise then my dedicated camera and the video of 808 kills the dedicated camera too (except it does not have an optical stabilizer). I know what I'm talking about, maybe you should check dpreview's compare tool and see it compared with dedicated cameras, it kinda kills all the 1/2.3" compact cameras and even the more expensive 1/1.7" premium compact cameras.
