With the S8 support now at an end Samsung is starting to follow its pledge of 4 year support for their midrange to top of the line phones. Hopefully the company will continue this from now on.

I can get easily 8 hours SOT, even after two years of use, and the phone is actually faster and more responsive when updated from Samsung Experience (that was sluggish AF) One UI, even after two years of use.

              RIP !!

Anonymous, 04 May 2021100 percent agree. A phone doesn't suddenly stop worki... moreTotally agree. I think that unfortunately a lot of people that are not tech savvy put way too much store in the value of updates. It's as if you don't update it, the phone will just die and cease to work. Custom roms will get updates for years but my galaxy S5 still works perfectly fine even now and I have actually put it back to an older rom. It's not my main phone but works fine. Updates are mostly a placebo effect in my opinion. They rarely do an awful lot. This idea that security updates are crucial is total nonsense. Regular virus scans, safe mode and factory resets can eradicate any security vulnerabilities. I just think that it's insane.

This is probably the best looking Samsung ever; I still have it as my secondary phone and, even now, I find myself marvelling at how beautiful it is, especially in black. The S9 is almost as nice looking, but the chin being a bit thicker than the forehead and the slightly raised camera bump on it (as opposed to the flush camera on the S8) mess with ts looks a bit. I now have the Note 10 as my main phone and, while it's a great looking phone as well, it still isn't quite the work of art the S8 is!

Same for the fingerprint sensor on the back, wish it was gone as the only security I use is a password because anyone can force copy your eyeballs and fingers but not what's inside your head!

One of the most beautiful phones ever. The iris scanner was reliable & secure & perfect for these times wearing masks since it scans the eyes unlike less secure face scanner.
Wish they bring back iris scanner for new phones.

Disappointing. After spending so much on a flagship phone, I expect it to have more regular updates and features than this.

All of its successors never sold that well as the S8 did, due to 2 factors: increasing prices and removing features at the same time.
